As a fellow blogger myself, I know how hard it is trying to get more traffic to your blog. It seems like you can spend so much time and one hell of a lot of effort researching and writing an amazing blog post. Then you publish it, and you await the traffic. It’s published on your website, but why isn’t it bringing you lots of new readers?

I ask myself that a lot of times, but I have noticed – after 10 whole years of blogger – that sometimes, a blog post struggles to organically bring you traffic. It’s sometimes nothing to do with the content or amazing photo quality, the tips you provide or the fabulous solutions you can be giving. It’s just down to the array of extensive content out there. Google can only work so hard to find the blog posts to display on it’s first few pages of Google.

This bring us to my main point: do you promote your blog posts well on Pinterest?

The first thing to ask yourself is if your blog posts are highly visual, with a clear, concise layout and visually striking elements. Look at the pages of Pleasure Principle Blog for an example. There are lots of blog posts and articles on this blog that will nicely sit on Pinterest, meaning people who discover the pins can then click through to the image source (which is the blog) and they hey presto – you have new traffic to your blog post.

It sounds simple, but obviously, it isn’t as easy peasy as whacking a load of images onto Pinterest from your old blog posts. Pinterest is increasingly becoming a site where people go to read the articles of their choice, if the images and content on Pinterest attracts the right people. So, how do you do it?

You are likely to already have a number of Boards on your Business Pinterest Account. Some may range from things you genhuinley love, and others, things that reflect your blog and what you like to share and talk about on there. If you don’t already have multiple boards set up, then start doing this pronto!

Your array of boards that you have created should be full of mixed content like beauty products, household tips, lifestyle images, travel inspo and more, but make sure it is all revolving around your Board theme. Post related links back to your blog, too.

The aim here is to send people on Pinterest into that addictive ‘loop’. They see one of your pins, and then discover another in the same board. They then follow your board. Build Engagement on Pinterest


You hear about how engagement is key across social media, so make sure you’re not forgetting about it when it comes to Pinterest! Like any good social marketer, you need to engage with your followers across all platforms.

There is every bit of chance you can turn the Pinners out there into your blog readers, too. The more you engage with people on Pinterest, the more likely they’ll also want to connect with you on your blog, and other sites.

So how do you engage on Pinterest? There’s lots of ways to get to know your market better on Pinterest, and for your market to get to know you better too. Firstly, as mentioned above, pin good, original and relevant content. If you do this along with pinning often and consistently, your Pins get seen in your Followers’ feeds. When they start to pin your pins, return the favour and follow your Followers. This is step one when it comes to Pinterest engagements!

Then, check out your Followers’ Boards and Pins for good content ideas they like. Ask questions that are answered in your blog. RePin, like and comment on your Followers’ Pins, when you really think they’re great!

Pins on Pinterest are indexed within the site, as well as search engines like Google. Make sure you are practising good SEO techniques when posting your blog post Pins on the site.

The first thing you need to do is to make sure your Pins are actually searchable. Check your account settings, and make sure your “Search Privacy” setting is set to allow for public search engines to find you!
