The All Bar One Manchester Restaurant Makeover and Summer Menu

As a food blogger and reviewer, I’m lucky enough to be able to test out and try lots of restaurants – be it independent, premium, large chains or family ran.

Manchester is full to the brim of new restaurants popping up all over the place, but you know what? I have a few trusty favourites that never let me down.

One of them is All Bar One, which first blew me over with it’s incredible Vegan menu (which I’m not even vegan, and I reviewed it here if you’re interested).

I’ve always turned to All Bar One on many early evenings to meet with friends and explore the cocktail menu before heading out to events and occasions, etc. It’s a stylish place that always offers a great ambiance and is welcoming no matter which city I’m in.

So, my recent visit to All Bar One was to check out it’s shiny new makeover at the Manchester King Street branch, and I have to say it’s looking fantastic.

The decor is a lovely warm colour palette of deep navy, browns, golds and neutrals, with walls adorned with artwork and plants, and ceilings decorated with industrial lights, giving a nod to the Scandi style.

Very fresh and modern, but also a vibe I can see working well when the Autumn/Winter months kick in, and the place takes of a more cosy feel.

While I was there, I decided to check out the new Summer menu with my Sister, in which we both started out taking a wine recommendation from their new offerings.

Perfect for those on a cheeky work lunch break, All Bar one now offer lower calorie and lower alcohol rose wine, like the one we went for. It’s called the Twilight Rose South Africa, which has 30% less calories and 35% less alcohol than your standard glass of rose.

And trust me – it tasted so crisp and refreshing. Much lighter to drink, and just as enjoyable.

So, lets get to the food. I’ve said it before, but All Bar One always pleased me with it’s extensive menu selection. Here you have starters, sharing boards, salads, meat dishes, fish, lunch specials, main courses, desserts – and a large array under each category too.

As I came along during a weekday lunch time, I decided to go for the Lentil and Chickpea Quesadilla, although I was so close to ordering the plant based lasagna – but I’ve had that before and told myself to branch away this time! But honestly, the plant based lasagna is by far the best began lasagna I’ve ever had.

Anyway, after adding a side of sweet potato fries to my order, the lentil and chickpea quesadilla comes as a beetroot & chia seed wrap filled with a gooey cheese alternative, rocket and seasoned fries. Loads of lentils and chickpeas all packed into the cheese alternative with lots of flavouring.

My sister went for an option from the mains, which was the Pad Thai. The portion was large and gives you the choice of adding prawns or chicken if you wish. It’s a dish made with noodles, free range egg, beansprouts, baby corn, pak choi and spring onions with a lime, chilli and Tamarind sauce. Again, another tasty dish that didn’t disappoint.

The service was friendly, quick and attentive, giving us recommendations and advising on drink choices too.

I continuously say it, but I just always find All Bar One as a place that never lets me down and provides high quality food for reasonable prices every time. If you haven’t visited the Manchester one before, now is the ideal time too after it’s rather glam re-vamp!
