A couple of weeks ago, my makeup regime got shook up slightly. I had the pleasure of meeting with the NARS team at their Selfridges, Intu Trafford store, to properly learn about the brand and their product ranges.
So those of you who know me will know I do bridal makeup as well as run What Emma Did full time. I’m obviously no stranger to NARS, with having a professional and premium kit, but I have to admit I relied on a few trusty staples from the brand: the orgasm blusher, the long wear foundations and the creamy concealer.
I was shown around the counter and given a lovely, glowing make over by their makeup artist, who used some gorgeous products I’ll touch on in a moment. But what first wowed me was the extensive range of foundation shades the brand now do.
I remember when NARS obviously had a varied range, but now, the Sheer Glow Foundation comes in 40 shades, and the Naturally Radiant Longwear comes in 33 shades. Pretty impressive!
When I arrived at the NARS counter, one of the reasons was the celebrate the launch of the limited edition Skin Deep Eyeshadow Palette.
I swear, if I could build a palette that is bespoke to me and my favourite colours, this one would be extremely similar. It’s the perfect combination of all the shades to suit all skin tones.
You’ve got subtle neutrals and smoky bolder colours, which come in rich mattes, lustrous shimmers, and smoldering metallic finishes. All are infused with NARS’ Pigment Powder Suspension technology for that high-impact, silky effect. Here’s the list of shades:
• TAUNT (matte cream)
• SOPHIA (matte rich cool brown)
• WHIPPED (matte warm brown)
• UNDRESSED (matte taupe brown)
• BALI (matte deep neutral taupe)
• ICON (shimmering rosy gold)
• BASIC INSTINCT (shimmering icy rose)
• COCONUT GROVE (matte deep brown)
• CENTERFOLD (shimmering grey beige)
• CALENDAR GIRL (shimmering golden brown)
• FASTER PUSSYCAT (metallic copper)
• UNBUTTONED (shimmering deep brown)
As well as trying out the Skin Deep eyeshadow palette at the NARS counter during my makeover, I was also treated to try out some of their key products too. The Sheer Glow foundation was colour matched to my skin, along with the creamy concealer.
The finish of the foundation, concealer and powder was so fresh and glowy, I felt I looked like I’d had copious nights of 8 hours plus sleep! The blush and contour was lightly bronzed and sculpted my face, but more: my eyes are popping!
The shades used from the Skin Deep palette work well for my blue/grey eyes, as there are so many warm browns in the palette. I genuinely loved the palette, and was pretty ecstatic to re-disover NARS and fall in love with the brand all over again.
So you can imagine how happy I was to then receive this stunning package from the brand, with some key items from their Radiance Repowered campaign..
Here in this beauuuuuutiful box was my own radiant creamy concealer and radiant longwear foundation, along with the incredible palette I’d just been raving about!
But wait – there is also another super lovely looking product in the box. It’s the New Super Radiant Booster – an illuminator and radiance-boosting fluid packed with Vitamin E to recharge your complexion.
It’s designed to either be mixed with foundation to add that pearlescent glow, or even to mix with your moisturiser before applying your foundation. Or, you could add it to the areas you wish to highlight before/after your foundation.
I decided to mix it with my moisturiser and use as a base, and my first thought was wow this is lightweight! It has a lovely layerable texture, coming in one universal rose gold shade which is suited for all skin tones.
I applied the radiant concealer and foundation over the based, and built up my ‘NARS’ face. Then, I came to the Skin Deep palette, using the gold shimmer shade from the bottom row, and a small touch of the brown on the bottom right, too.
I feel like this eyeshadow palette would be a perfect addition for my professional makeup artist kit. But in all honesty, I’m too attached to it already for myself! So I think I’ll be keeping it in my own personal daily makeup bag, and I’ll just buy it for my pro kit later down the line.
Got to prioritise yourself sometimes, hey!
I hope you like the look of these gorgeous NARS products. All descriptions and prices can be found on the NARS website here.
