My Boots Summer Look Book: Natural Beauty Trend

I literally can’t get enough of Summer. It’s my favourite season for so many reasons, although I’m really hoping to see an uplift in this British Summer weather! Sure, we may have just had a heatwave this weekend, but a few more of those dotted around through July and August would make me super happy.

One of my main reasons I love Summer so much is it’s a perfect season to embrace a bit of natural beauty, without looking so ghastly. For the rest of the year, I’m useless with false tanning and Summer grooming, but as soon as May arrives, I really like to up my game.

This Summer, as much as I love all the current beauty trends big for 2019 like subtle Glitter Makeup, glossy skin and bringing in a touch of neon brights, I’m reverting to the other end of the trend spectrum: natural beauty. Sun-kissed makeup looks and healthy skin.

I’m working on enhancing my natural skin, hair and features with products that work with my features to lightly bring them out, rather than creating a new look.

If you invest in products which are quality and do the hard work for you, you’ll find its very little effort needed. I’ve recently stocked up with a range of hero products from my favourite beauty retailer, Boots, to help work on enhancing myself lightly over the Summer months.

Want to see my fave Summer beauty picks and how I’m using them? Take a little look below…

First of all, you can see I’ve selected four key quality products for my Summer beauty bag. This is – shock horror – the first time I’ve properly used a Clarins product, in which I’ve gone for a moisturising product packed with SPF. This also tints my skin a little with the ‘peach’ shade, blurring imperfections and adding a hint of colour.

The Isle of Paradise product is a tanning drops bottle, in which you dispense 1-2 drops into your moisturiser and it works to develop a natural looking, gradual tan for the face. I opted for this as I’m going to Cyprus in two weeks, so I’m going to slowly use this to build up that natural bronzed look, in a bid to help me rely on foundation less.

Then there is the Browcote Waterproof Brow Fixing Gel, which tames eyebrows and fixes brow make-up for hours. I had mine microbladed a few months back and since then, I’ve stopped plucking and have let the hairs underneath grow through so I have a bigger, bushier finish. Now, I rarely need to use much brow pencil – just a little to shape the corners. So now I’m coating them with this which brushes and seals them into place perfectly.

And of course, what better excuse for a new fresh fragrance other than choosing a new perfume? After a few recommendations, I went for Scandal by Jean Paul Gaultier, £47, which smells absolutely divine!

I always go to Boots for my fragrances as they are always fully stocked with the latest launches right through to the old classics (it used to be the only place I could ever get hold of Givenchy’s Hot Couture, a real old classic fave of mine…)

BROWS

Let’s have a look at the Browcote Waterproof Brow Gel in a little more detail. It’s a clear gel that has waterproof properties, allowing the gel to brush through the natural brow hairs and on top of makeup to give beautifully defined, smudge free brows.

When brushed over brow pencil, pomade or powder, the brow makeup will literally last for hours – great for when wearing make up in the sun! However for me, I just apply a touch of brow pencil and then coat my brows with this product. It kinda makes my brows just sit into shape properly without budging, great for me who has quite long brow hairs!

All I do is brush up my brows first, run a little bit of pencil through the corners and shape as desired, then evenly brush Browcote over and through the eyebrows. It sets after a minute or two, and then I’m good to go! My brows instantly look bushier, just how I like them,

SKINCARE

I mentioned before that I hadn’t used Clarins as a brand much before (no idea why, it just never popped up on my radar much) but that’s totally changed after I’ve fallen in love with this Clarins HydraQuench Tinted Moisturiser, which retails at £30.00.

I decided that if I want to embrace my natural skin and a fresh look, a tinted moisturiser on days I don’t wear makeup is a good move for me. This one features SPF 15 in it too, which is good to know for when the weather gets a little warmer.

The ‘peach’ shade is a lovely warming shade which is subtle enough to add a hint of colour across my face, without appearing that I’m wearing foundation. If I want more coverage, I can just apply my concealer over the top. But I’m currently trying to encourage as many naturally bronzed, fresh skin days as possible this Summer.

Face Tanning

And now my hero product of them all! I am now obsessed with this Isle of Paradise Self Tanning Drops, which works to gradually give my face a naturally sun-kissed face without having to apply strong false tanners directly to my face.

With these little drops, I add just 1-2 of the medium shade into my moisturiser and massage in. Within a day or two, my face starts to have that a natural, glowing, sun-kissed look with no streaks, no smells or orange tones. Plus, it has a lovely sweet little scene and is non-irritant for my skin, and I’m fairly acne prone too.

It’s formulated with SuperBalance complex which helps to reduce redness and calm the skin, which explains why it doesn’t cause my breakouts to look worse!

Some people may want to use drops in their body moisturiser for their body tan, which is a brilliant idea I’ve not yet tried. Or, you can use more drops into your facial moisturiser for a more intense look.
