I hate to say it but lets be real: Autumn/Winter is around the corner, and it looks like we’ve seen the back of what has been a truly awesome British Summer.
Before I start to feel all down and sad about it, I’ve done something rather exciting. I’m going on a little September break with my boyfriend, Martin, and his family. An actual real, non work holiday – yes you read that right! Pinch me, I must be dreaming! It’s been so long since I let myself go away and don’t rope it into a ‘working, blogging’ holiday.
If you know me well, or you too are self employed, you know how difficult it is to take a holiday. The feelings of guilt, how you know you can always fit in ‘that little bit of work’, the real life FOMO etc etc.
But, I tell myself constantly how much I need to take a break, so it’s finally time to escape ‘reality’ and my obsessive work habits and break away in Wales.
The photos above and below are from a June trip to Portugal, which was lovely. Beaches, sun, cocktail, poolside… a little different to what Wales in September will be like. But that’s the whole point: each trip and break can be so different in it’s own way, giving you variety and something difference. Plus, it’s nice to go away with different people, too.
I have to admit, that this is the first time in a long long while I’ve thoroughly enjoyed Summer in Manchester. The strangely hot weather we’ve been graced with has meant I’ve enjoyed my hometown more than usual.
This Summer has seen me make the most of all of the lovely national parks, family parks, and countryside surrounding Manchester and Cheshire, for countless picnics, and even camping! Plus, we’ve explored some fabulous pubs with scenic outdoor areas, and more than anything, we’ve spent some time in our own gardens and friends gardens, having good old British inspired BBQ’s!
If you’re looking to take a break now that September is approaching, thinking about somewhere to escape to as we see the new A/W season is drawing in, it’s a good time to start thinking. I guess the question is: where do YOU want to escape to?
I was a little stuck, but luckily it was boyfriends family who chose a gorgeous little town in Wales. However, I used a new, fun quiz I found over at FlyBe when I was first having a brainstorm, which lets you fill out all it’s questions, and find locations that you can get to easily from Manchester.
When I had a go, it came out that my perfect destination was Milan! It couldn’t have been more spot on. The quiz starts by asking who you would like to travel with, what type of accommodation you would like to stay in, what attractions or past times you’d like to do, what food you’d like to eat etc etc… and then brings up your ideal destination.
With that, it then gives you links to book flights at the best price, so you can start to really look into booking your dream escape trip!
Why not have a go at the destination finder yourself too! Take the quiz below and be sure to let me know what your dream destination is…
