Not only is 2015 the year of weddings for me, but it’s also the year of babies! So many of my friends are due this year, and the majority are actually due within the next few weeks. So for me, this means lots of baby showers! Today’s post is to showcase how I celebrated my best friends baby shower, who wanted to avoid the traditional house gathering experience with baby games and activities. She wanted a nice little girly lunch, where we could all have an excuse to get together, eat lovely food, and excitedly chat about the baby…
After a lot of selecting and rejecting, I opted for Rosylee tea rooms in Manchester’s Northern Quarter to host the perfect venue for a girly afternoon tea- baby shower style. If your not famila with Rosylee, it’s a traditional tea room eatery styled as a modern Manchester bar, in the great location of Stevenson Square. The downstairs in a cosy, stylish lounge, with a sleek bar area and homely vibe. Above Rosylee is an uber cool speakeasy style bar called The Fitzgerald, which is home to a dark, vintage inspired interior, reflecting the prohibition era with it’s classic 1920s theme. Surrounded with gatsby glasswear, dark leather seating, pillars and wooden flooring, the atmosphere is mystic and moody – but all round fantastic!
I was lucky enough to host my friends baby shower in The Fitzgerald, where I added a pop of baby inspired decor to bring alive the occasion. In terms of eating and drinking, we opted for the Afternoon Tea, which involved finger sandwiches, scones with clotted cream and jam, and a selection of cream, sponge and macaron style cakes. We had the nicest choice of tea’s, as well as a couple of us opting for the odd cheeky glass of wine. The Afternoon Tea was really tasty; the range of salmon and cream cheese and chicken and mustard sandwiches were scrumptious, and I’m a huge sucker for filling up on super sweet macarons too!
There was a huge table of 19 of us, with every single one of us all happy with the Afternoon Tea, the ambience, the staff and the service…
With living in the Northern Quarter at present, I have been to Rosylee for numerous occasions and have always found it a fail safe place for a get together or a particular occasion. They do a yummy chicken and bacon sandwich, and the best chunky chips!
If you are given the duty of planning a good friends baby shower, and want to avoid the traditional house gathering of getting all the friends and family together for a day of playing baby bingo, pin the dummy on the baby and all the other boy/girl themed games, then I definitely recommend planning an Afternoon Tea. Rosylee and The Fitzgerald are ideal restaurants and bars to look into if you live in Manchester to host an event like this, and as long as you enjoy scones, tea, cake and chatter, you’ll love everything about this type of occasion!
A huge thank you to the team at Rosylee for being so attentive, and for letting us use The Fitzgerald upstairs The staff made sure we were well looked after and waited on, yet left us too our privacy so we could all catch up and celebrate ourselves. A fantastic venue and brilliant staff!
