One thing I love about Christmas time is (of course) the Christmas parties, but even more so, I love a good old Christmas party that combines bloggers, fashion, food and present swapping. What’s not to love about that? Four of my favourite things combined! With this in mind, you can imagine how much I enjoyed a recent event I attended with clothing retailers Ark and Motel Rocks, who kindly showcased their party season stock to a select 20 of us fashion bloggers. Whilst we sipped Prosecco and nibbled on a range of festive treats, we got to explore some sparkly little numbers from both clothing brands in the lovely boutique hotel that is Abel Heywood, in Manchester’s Northern Quarter (I recently reviewed their new dining area, if you want to have a little look here!).
I think I fell in love with so many of the party pieces, in particularly a few sequin and shimmery thread dresses from the latest Motel Rocks collection. There were also some snuggly faux fur and faux leather jackets in a range of Wintery shades such as deep pink, burgundy and black, which I now have my eye on…
Another lovely little element to the Christmas party event – which by the way was entitled #YuleBelieve (take a look at the hashtag on Twitter to see all the other lovely bloggers posts and social media photos) – was a fashion themed Secret Santa! I thought this was such a great idea for us fashion bloggers to take part in, as we had to pick a gift from the Motel Rocks website for our chosen blogger, which meant snooping around their blog to catch a clue of their personal style and what items they would love. Trust me, it was a lot more difficult than I imagined! Once we opened our stockings and unwrapped our presents (the stunning stockings were very vintage inspired, and I believe they came from Mi-Pac’s Liberty collection in case you need stocking inspiration this year) we had a little video made of us all sharing our thoughts on our gifts. The camera never lies, so we all had to watch out for our ‘gift faces’!
Luckily, which ever blogger was shopping for me (I never found out who…) chose a real lovely printed cami dress, with a stunning low detail back. It will look amazing layered up over a black hi-neck top and tights, although I’m just quickly showcasing it to you here below on it’s own. An outfit post dedicated to this and Motel Rocks as a brand will come soon though!
I’ve also very recently become an owner of a shirt/dress item from Ark, which is my first item from the brand. It’s a rather quirky little item which comes in the form of a vertical stripe detail shirt dress. It’s something I would never usually pick, but when I seen it I felt it was different in a very super stylish way, and that maybe… just maaaaaybe… I might be able to pull it off with a hat and chunky black ankle boots. Being a fashion blogger is all about experimenting, right?
A huge thank you to the team at Ark for putting on a fantastic #YukeBelieve event, and to Abel Heywood for hosting and putting on a Christmassy selection of food and drinks for us.
