With Spring fast approaching, the wedding show season is ramping up, and there is a myriad of items on your to-do list. So where do you start? The lovely people at Bridal accessory brand Rainbow Club have put together a fabulous wedding checklist here for you to print and use, which I found and wanted to share with you Brides-to-be.
Also, just a little more forward planning before a wedding can also entail attending a wedding show, which can provide ideas that will be extremely helpful to you in the long run.
With wedding planning, you can plan with military precision or you can go where ever the wind takes you. However, I’ve put together a few recommendations that experience has shown makes life that little bit easier in the few months leading up to your wedding day. The last thing you need to be doing is stressing over the small things, right?
1. Have a Bridal friend
First of all, whenever you attend a show, take someone with you for a second pair of eyes, opinions and to help keep you focused. This can be the groom, your mum or one of your bridesmaids. You could even bring a practical friend you know you can give yourself over to and who will help keep you on track.
2. Prioritise what you need to tick off
Priorities what you need to get sorted at this particular show. Write it down and take it with you (along with your scrapbook). Then focus on securing the details on your list. Move past anything that distracts you and get down to business. If you know you’re looking for stationary today, look at all the stationary stalls (yes all of them!) and ensure you get contact details and examples from each of the ones you like. Every good supplier will have samples of their work for you to take away with you (or to taste).
3. Take enjoyable breaks
Next up, take a break! Most shows have a sit down area usually with much needed refreshments. Take advantage of it and rest your feet. Bridal shows are a great excuse to indulge in girly chats, tea and cake of course…
Take some time to sit down and look over what you have collected from the show, and although it’s hard, reduce it down to 3 options. You can then discuss these possibilities in more detail with the groom over a glass of wine later, without overwhelming yourselves. Be ruthless – if you have questions for the supplier, now’s the time to go back and ask them before you forget what those queries are. It’s ideal to record everything you pick up in your scrapbook, and if you don’t yet have one – create one! You can make them as personalised to your tastes as you like…
Once you have nailed the items specified on your list, you can now indulge yourself with the distractions of other gorgeous little touches that will make your special day unique. Pop them in your scrapbook and add them to your next list. Here are some key questions to ask suppliers at a wedding show:
- Will you be available/ready on ‘wedding date’?
- How much notice do you need to secure my wedding date?
- What are your costs? And how do you take payment? – ensure there are no hidden costs such as ‘set-up’ or ‘traveling expenses’ etc
- What is the best way to contact you?
