So it’s Spring and I should totally be rocking a colour palette of fresh pastels and clean whites. So how come I’m here, showcasing on the blog how to dress up a classic black dress? I guess it’s because deep down, I love nothing more than a wardrobe packed with staple black dresses. Loose fitting, bodycon, bell sleeved, strappy, shift… you name it, I’ll take one in black. Even though Spring is here, it’s still touch and go with the weather, and if this Easter has been anything to go from, it’s not getting much warmer anytime soon.
As part of a little blogger campaign aimed around #mystylemydress, I was challenged to showcase a simple black dress, and show how I prefer to wear it. For those who know me will know I’m quite understated when it comes to fashion, and like to wear simple items with just a few key accessories. For me, it’s all about getting multi-use out of garments, and being able to take them through from day to night. The dress is question is the lovely all-rounder from Vero Moda from House of Fraser, which certainly caters for both day and night, and can be dressed up and down too.
As you can see, I kept #mystylemydress really simple and easy-to-wear. This look is perfect for giving a relaxed daytime vibe, yet I could happily turn up for a day at working wearing this ensemble, and continue on for an evening out. I’ve paired it up with a fleecy grey scarf (because you know, it’s still not warm yet) and a pair of gorgeous brown nubuck ankle boots from Cloggs, which are from Steve Madden.
I am absolutely in love with these boots, and although I rarely pair up brown and black, on this occasion, I actually think it really works to break up the solid black feel. I was desperately in need for a new pair of brown ankle boots – it’s been so long since I ventured away from black or grey shoes! These particular brown Ryatt-Q boots which I received from Cloggs, designed by Steve Madden, also provide a real country vibe. I love the clean classic shape, with their flattering almond toe tips, and of course, a good old sturdy stacked chunky mid- heel. They are currently on sale at Cloggs, along with lots of other beautiful footwear which can also last all-year round too, just like my dress…
Are you a simple and understated dresser like myself, or a little more ‘out there’ and daring? Either way, I hope you enjoyed this #mystylemydress post!
