Cloud 23 still ranks high as one of my favourite places to visit in Manchester for drinks with a view. But I recently realised that apart from trying out their afternoon tea (which is incredible, and fully reviewed here), I’m yet to dine there during the evening.
When I first heard about their new Drunch menu and offering, I was enlightened a little by the name. Is this a later version of brunch? Is it drinks and brunch combined? Is it dinner and lunch? Drinks and lunch?
In a nutshell, I was like: I just wanna hear more.
The introduction of Drunch at Cloud 23 is actually a dinner-lunch hybrid, served with bottomless drinks between 4 – 8pm every night of the week. So that includes your weekend evenings too.
It’s been introduced as an option for those choosing to eat later on at the weekend, or for those who want to start their evenings early, from 4pm onwards with good food, drinks and company. Of course, not forgetting a luxury atmosphere and setting, and with Cloud 23’s infamous views.
The concept sounded new and exciting, so I jumped at the chance to head over for a review, as an ideal way to spend a leisurely sundown evening at 6pm with two of my good friends.
The Drunch offering is £35 per person for 90 minutes of bottomless Pink Pornstars, G&T’s, Bellini’s, Curious Brew of Champagne, along with your choice of main course. The Veuve Clicquot version is £55, which makes it an additional £15 pp.
Paired with 360 views of Manchester in a premium setting, it’s quite ideal for a fancy date night or a gathering with friends after work, or on the weekend if you’re looking for a super nice venue with charm and class.
We enjoyed a rather fancy mid-week meetup here, and as usual, this place never fails to amaze with it’s grand windows and elegant decor.
As you can see, we stayed firmly on the Pink Pornstars. I can’t tell you what makes them pink (lots of Instagram comments about this) but I can tell you they were bloomin’ delicious! A sweeter, perhaps more grapefruit tasting take on the original? Not sure, but either way, I didn’t stop to ask what went in them (my bad!).
We browsed the menu for the new concept which is pretty self explanatory. You are simply allowed to pick a base from fresh flatbreads, salads or tacos with tasty toppings such as chorizo and manchego, or tandoori, goats cheese and coriander, to pair up with your free-flowing punch or bubbles for 90 minutes.
Two of us went for the salad (very unlike me!) with a topping of Chicken, Caponata and Mozzarella, and our other friend went for the tacos.
Lots of choice in all honesty, as you have your more interesting combinations like chorizo and manchego, or your veggie favourites like brie, charred apple, honey, dijon and onions.
A lovely evening here, dining from the £35 pp option. All I can say is make sure you save aside 90 minutes of uninterrupted drinks and food time, and take in the views along with some fancy photos while up in the sky too!
