With just 3 days to go before Christmas, I wanted to share with you a brilliant pre-Christmas shopping event I attended with World Duty Free and Manchester Airport. Indulging in beauty shopping at World Duty Free only happens with me around twice a year, when I grace the airport with my presence when I’m lucky enough to jet away. And in all honesty, it rarely happens more than twice a year!
However, the other week, World Duty Free invited me to their store with a number of other Manchester bloggers at Terminal 2, Manchester Airport, to explore the fantastic beauty gifts they retail in time for Christmas.
Pretty perfect, right? I still had my sister, my dad, my mum and my friends to shop for, not forgetting some treats for myself of course!
Firstly, we checked into the lovely Radisson Blu Manchester Airport, where we call gathered together for a glass of fizz and a chat, before getting our airport passes and sorting through our agendas. The hotel is absolutely beautiful, and I was super excited to arrive at my room and spy it was a superior room, with views of all the departing aeroplane’s from the window!
The bed was huuuuuuge, and I was welcomed with some gorgeous little bags of treats laid beautifully on the bed to give me a flavour of what World Duty Free offers. I was utterly looking forward to snuggling down and spending the night there!
We then headed off to World Duty Free, tucking into some mince pies on arrival to get into that festive spirit, and then being let loose around the store. I guess I’d never given myself that much time before to explore the gorgeous brands and collections they offer – especially so close to Christmas. I literally don’t know where to start with how amazing my shopping experience was, so I’ll break it down in collections…
MAC has always been one of my real treats when it comes to makeup, but I rarely give myself anything more than 5 minutes at a counter these days to explore anything other than my usual’s. I usually just rock up, tell the artist I need a top up of my MAC Eyebrow Pencil in shade Lingering, and then I’m on my merry way.
This time though, I got my skin matched to a new foundation, which was the Studio Fix in NC35 (I like going a little warmer to match my fake tan!), a lip liner in shade Spice which is a touch darker than my natural lip colour, so I can create the illusion of a fuller pout, and a professional conceal, brighten and contour palette which is perfect for when I do makeup for my brides.
Literally could not be happier with these little purchases! And also, how amazing are the MAC Look in a Box Be Wow lipsticks above? Its a super exclusive kit featuring mini Lipsticks in an eclectic mix of shades: Nude du Jour, Dodgy Girl, No Faux Pas, Relentlessly Red and Antique Velvet. Each one has a matte finish – which is my favourite – and I actually decided to keep this gift set for me!
Another gem of a makeup counter I haven’t spent time at for a long long time is Bobbi Brown – a brand known for their ability to enhance natural beauty. I was in need of a new bronzer, so the lady at the counter gave me a full makeover, trying out new products on me, including their matte bronzers which I fell in love with.
I love a highly pigmented product, one which only needs a bit of product applied and the results are striking and bold. So when the makeup artist applied the Bobbi Brown Bronzer to my contoured area, and I saw the lovely, fresh, matte bronze applied, I had to invest!
Other items I picked up during my Christmas beauty spree included the following: Benefit Hoola Bronzer Duo Set (because this has to be one of the best matte bronzers around!), a new Urban Decay liquid highlighter (which I’m absolutely loving – it’s an icy white shade and blends into foundation perfectly, giving the tops of my cheeks that party shimmer and glow), an Elemis Dynamic Resurfacing Facial Wash (this is my go to, I always rave about it, so it was the perfect excuse to stock uo), Clinque Happy Aftershave for my Dad, and then various beauty sets for my Mum and Sister which I can’t reveal, as they read my blog quite often!
I have to share with you another amazing little gift that I got hold of at the shopping event: the Urban Decay Heavy Metals Eyeshadow Palette. For £43, this Urban Decay Heavy Metals Metallic Eyeshadow Palette is absolute shadow mayhem in a crushed metal case. The limited-edition palette is loaded with 20 of UD’s most amped-up metallic shadows yet—and every single one is NEW and exclusive.
As well as its glam metallic purple casing, the palette is designed to Inject your look with a hit of glam rock for daytime or go full-on metal for a night out. It literally has everything you need to create endless metallic looks. And it’s all organised by colour: brights on the left, neutrals on the right!
To finish the evening off, myself and my blogger buddies had a glass of fizz and I fed myself on avocado and toast, before snuggling down in my massive bed for the night. I got woken up by a nice and early 6am breakfast room service call, in which I literally got delivered the whole works! Fruits, meats, toast, cereal, milk, yoghurts, teas, coffees and croissants galore – what a dream!
Thank you so much to the team at World Duty Free, the Radisson Blu Manchester Airport, and Manchester Airport for hosting a brilliant evening and getting me up to speed with my Christmas shopping…
