Beauty: Smashbox Brow Tech and BB Water

We all know eyebrows were the killer feature of 2015, and it looks like it’s no different for 2016. Having amazing brows is literally what we all strive for – whether it’s larger, bushier brows a la Cara Delevingne, or a more structured and shaped version sported by Megan Fox. We all have our own ‘brow story’ too – and mine is just plain weird. I’m naturally a fair haired girl with ghastly pale skin, yet rock a pair of jet black brows that are pretty much wild and out of control. I spent years over plucking during my teens, desperately trying to fit in with everyone else and their perfect light arches.

Anyway, low and behold, the brow game trend changed, and I’m officially in my element. Luckily for me, my brows need no shading and no added colour, just a little bit of shaping and brushing into place. I’ve always been a huge fan of MAC eyebrow pencil in shade lingering, or the pencil sets from Billion Dollar Brows. These soft tip pencils leave a natural dark brown touch to shape the corners of my brows and fill in any gaps effortlessly. I tend to use an old toothbrush to brush them into place too (don’t laugh until you’ve tried it!)

HOWEVER. All has changed. I am now officially addicted to the new Smashbox Brow Tech collection, after receiving them along with the new Smashbox Camera Ready BB Water the other week.

So what’s so great about these new eyebrow pencils? The pencils are basically a matte collection, which come in the shades blonde, taupe, brunette and dark brown. I’ve currently been using a combination of the brunette and dark brown, depending on the occasion. As Smashbox state, it’s a big screen-inspired brow collection to define, lift and add shimmery dimension for statement brows that ‘wow’. The range of precise pro tools aim to give a perfect, youthful looking set of brows, and along with the matte pencils, they also have four gloss sticks, and two Highlight Sticks to shape and finish.

There’s no smudging and running. These products are water-resistant, long-lasting, and sweat and humidity proof, these looks were built to withstand L.A. heat and hectic schedules.

So I may not be all ‘L.A chic’, but I am a busy bee, and I do need my brows to stay in place all day. And so far, so good. The soft pencil shade stays on my brows throughout the day, with no smudges appearing at any point. The matte pencils also come double ended with a little brush to keep brows brushed up and in place, so it’s bye bye to my old toothbrush too.

I’ve been using these brow pencils along with the BB Water – a new product which acts as a ‘drink for the skin’ so to speak. It’s the first BB cream with a water texture to quench skin and provide a blurring perfection effect. It glides on easily, and provides a natural daytime glow. No caking, no drying, no cracking. As you can see from my photos above (as best I could….) the BB looks dewy and fresh, almost like tinted water, yet blends into the skin like a powerful BB cream. I layered up my application twice and set with powder on the photographs below, but hopefully you can get an idea of how flawless my skin looks!

I’ve been using the brow tech collection along with the BB water, and so far I am more than happy with the results. The BB Water costs £29 and is a really lovely product to try if you are looking for a less heavy coverage product for daytime use.

Take a look at the Smashbox webpage for more details, but the products are also available in selected Boots stores if you live close by to one of them…
