The other week, I headed down to Manchester’s Trafford Centre to take a sneak peek preview at a brand new face mask from Dermalogica. I haven’t touched on Dermalogica too much on the blog before, so it’s probably worth pointing out that I genuinely love this skincare brand and that I’m already a fan. When I suffered bad breakouts a few years ago, I invested in Dermalogica’s ‘Clean Start’ range to sort the situation out. Although aimed at teenage skin, I found that the active ingredients such as Clay, Tea Tree and Salicylic Acid were brilliant for calming any acne.
It’s been a while since I have used Dermalogica, since my love affair with Clean Start came to an end after my skin calmed a little. Then, I got told about the new Charcoal Rescue Masque, and everything about it sounded fantastic which reminded me of just how much trust and faith I have for this brand. It’s funny because just a few days before being invited to try out this product the day before it’s launch, I attended a skincare session in which I learnt all about using charcoal in your beauty regimes. It’s such a fantastic addition, with it’s ability to draw out impurities to rescue tired, dull and lacklustre skin.
The Charcoal Rescue Masque also contains sulfur, which promotes cell turnover for dramatically brighter skin. When I apply this to my face (a clean, dry face ideally!) and smooth it on with my finger tips, I can feel a bit of a gritty, beaded texture, like there are tiny exfoliation pieces in the formular. I’m not too sure what property causes them, but they sure help to clarify and smooth out the texture, so I’m not complaining.
I leave this mask on for around 15 minutes in total, letting it settle on my skin and dry for the first 10 minutes. I then take damp hands, and circulate my fingers around my skin, lightly removing the mask and giving my face a mini massage at the same time. After a couple of minutes doing this, I then ensure it is completely washed off. As with all masks that are dark in colour, just be fairly thorough with the removal, as you don’t want any spotting a little dark patch of mask on your neck or behind your ear afterwards!
I have used this little wonder on three occasions now, and can confidently say it’s worked a miracle on my skin. Once removed, the freshness and clarity is incredible – it really does brighten up the complexion upon first use. Skin feels soft to touch, with a refined texture. It’s possibly a really good product to use twice a week to keep on top of problem areas and breakouts – after all, you can use it multiple times a week! Maybe if you have dry skin it might be best to limit to no more than twice though, just incase it dries out the skin little.
The masque is available at Dermalogica counters and spas/salons across the UK, retailing at £38. A little product goes a long way, so this will ideally last you a very long time! Thank you Dermalogica for launching this hero product…
