Most of you know that your skin is the largest body organ, which reflects your beauty the most. Your age can be determined by the way your skin looks like, and that’s a fact. If you look underage, it is just because of your skin’s condition. It tends to be softer, more flawless, and smooth.
In other words, you remain and look young as far as your skin looks fresh and young! This is because your skin shows the signs of ageing the first.
It’s no secret that women want to look ever young even in their old age. Over the years, I’ve picked up a fair few tips in how to do this properly, so you can keep looking young by following certain skin care tips. If followed whole heartedly, these tips may prevent fine lines, wrinkles, sagging, dark spots and other visible signs of ageing.
Here is a collection of tips which help your skin remain as young as possible:
Take your share of antioxidants
While a well-balanced diet does miracles to your entire body, fruits and vegetables containing antioxidants like vitamin B and E do wonders to your skin. “Antioxidants help protect skin by preventing free radicals in the environment from breaking down the skin’s Elastin and Collagen, resulting in more youthful and healthier skin,” says dermatologist Marnie Nussbaum, MD, chief medical spokesperson for Sebamed.
You can get vitamin B6 and B12 from fish, poultry, chickpeas, etc. and vitamin E from wheat germ oil, sunflower seeds, almonds, etc. to keep your skin ever young and healthy.
Fill up on fermented foods
Fermented foods like kimchi, sauerkraut, tempeh, gingko biloba nuts, mushroom extract, etc. are pro-biotic rich foods which may combat premature aging. “Fermented foods have excellent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties,” says Dr Craig Kraffert, MD, a board certified dermatologist and president of Amarte.
Eat sufficient proteins
“Proteins help build and maintain muscle mass, which we tend to lose as we age,” says keri Gans, RD, a New York City-based nutrition consultant and author of The Small Change Diet. Women should eat at least 46 grams of proteins daily which help control cravings, lose weight and maintain your slim figure.
Moreover, proteins also help keep healthy looking long hair. So, always eat sufficient amount of proteins found in meat, grains, cereals, nuts, eggs, milk, etc.
Focus on healthy fats
Healthy fats or fatty acids keep you full, help your body absorb essential vitamins and maintain the freshness of your skin. They have also been linked to reduced risk of cardiovascular diseases. Avocado, fish, nuts, seeds, coconut, chocolate, milk, etc. are rich sources of fatty acids like best hyaluronic acid serum to keep your skin smooth and younger looking.
“They do so by reducing inflammatory skin conditions like acne and psoriasis,” says Keri Gans.
Load up on vitamin C
According to a study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, researchers found that people eating vitamin C rich foods regularly developed fewer wrinkles and less age-related dry skin than those who did not.
So, increase your intake of a diet containing lots of vitamin C super foods such as citrus, peppers, kale, etc. to ward off wrinkles and other signs of ageing. You may take some vitamin C serum regularly in your diet.
Cut back on sugar and increase H2O intake
Researchers have found a deep link between dietary sugars like glucose and greater production of advanced glycation end products. These end products cause obesity, diabetes, heart diseases, etc. So, if you have a sweet tooth, enjoy eating sugar but in small amounts and focus more on an active life style with a balanced diet.
Water is the best regulator and a universal solvent. Its deficiency takes a toll on ageing skin. Dr Nussbaum advises to drink at least 9 glasses of water daily besides taking juicy fruits and vegetables. Water keeps your skin spick and spans all the time and delays ageing.
Develop healthy habits
Healthy habits include going early to bed and getting up early, taking regular exercise especially morning walk, washing your face quite often besides taking daily bath, brushing your teeth twice a day, sleeping on your back, keeping your back straight while sitting, managing your stress sensibly, etc. If you want to keep looking younger than your age, you must always go with the ever healthy habits.
