The Online Tech Scandals of 2018

As 2018 comes to a close, everyone starts to do all their favourite round-ups. Whether it’s the biggest celebrity shock stories or the biggest earner of the year, you’ll see a lot of reflection pop up online as the year ends.

So the one I want to highlight today is about something all us internet/social media obsessed people are possibly familiar with: The Biggest Privacy Scandals of 2018.

VPN site BestVPN had the chance to catch up with Santa Claus himself, to get an insight of who he calls out as the naughty contenders for leaking privacy, and the nice contenders when it comes to privacy.

If you cast you’re mind back to earlier this year, there was a stage where there was quite a lot of negativity ‘baddies’ playing their parts. Most of you will remember when British Airways database was hacked in the Summer, and 350,000 transactions were hacked.

Also, in March, it was emerged that the UK Police were allegedly accessing phone records illegally.

But focusing on some of the ‘nice lists’, remember when GDPR kicked in, to give us back the control of what we receive and who has our data? And who can forget when Signal partnered with Microsoft to bring end-to-end encryption to Skype?

Here’s a useful infographic put together by Best VPN – which you can find here – showing the nice and naughty contenders of 2018…

Also, BestVPN have launched a super exciting competition – giving all of their followers a chance to win a spectacular prize this Christmas! The prize itself is a 50” Samsung 4K TV with HDR.
