It looks like designers have gone dotty again for the polka dot trend! I’ve browsed a lot of collections for Spring/Summer 2010 trends, and its appears that the dot is well and truly back. This time around, designers are producing subtly small dots to oversized Minnie Mouse style dots, so lots of variation this season!
I don’t know about you, but I’m very excited to start donning on the dots! The styles below are some favorites that have gave me some inspiration for how to wear my dots…
Fashion labels Luella, Marc Jacobs and Chloe are all sporting this print for their collections, so the dots are definitely big business for Spring. Personally, I love to wear this trend with a girly twist, which means pretty polka dresses and little printed neck scarfs.
My friend is a fashion designer and was not so long ago designing for Jane Norman, and I must say we had a giggle when she told me she was designing ‘key-hole’ dresses for 2010. I couldn’t imagine dresses with a big gaping hole at the front looking remotely fashionable. So I was pleasantly surprised to see the key-hole trend incorporated with polka dots at Boohoo.com, with this cute little Cut Out Polka Dot Dress…
How cute would this look paired with some patent black stiletto’s, black stud earrings and this gorgeous loveheart bracelet?
This is definitely the ultimate sweetheart look! If your not too sure how to go about pulling off this trend, then heres some tips:
Fabulous Fifties: Think Katie Perry, with big flowing dresses sporting large dots. Think bold colours; blacks, red’s and pinks. This is a dramatic look which incorporates neck scarfs and dresses for ultimate fifties polka dot impact.
Classic Monochrome: The classier way to wear spots is to opt for the subtle look, think black and white polka dot prints on pencil skirts and fitted shirts. French Sole have a range of spotty pumps which will add graphic to your outfit if your slightly afraid of how to wear polka dot.
Accessorise: Adding a few polka dot accessories to your outfit can look super stylish if you would rather avoid wearing polka dot clothing. Wrap up in style with a spotted scarf, or even be a little bit cheeky and wear your spots underneath!
