If you’ve been clued up this year with your fashion news, then you may know about the Shopgirl To Stylist campaign launched by Elle earlier this year. For those who don’t, Elle Magazine set out a nationwide search for talented shop girls (and shop boys too! ) who have what it takes to become international stylists. The competition is now coming to a close with an X-Factor style final in London in November. Recently announced is the line up of judges – bring on Lily Allen, Lily’s sister Sarah Owen, and Elle’s editor in chief Lorraine Candy.
Lily and Sarah can lend their fashion expertise after opening their vintage clothes boutique Lucy In Disguise last month, which has had an amazing response.
Elle editor in chief Lorraine Candy says “We asked Lily to get involved with Shopgirl after shooting her for our August cover. She’s a true fashion lover who always brings her individuality to an outfit”. The two fashionista’s Lily Allen and Sarah Owen say: “Were thrilled to be on the panel for Shop Girl To Stylist, it’s a great initiative from Elle and its been really exciting to see how many super-stylish girls there are out there.”
The final ten will be set a styling challenge by Lorraine Candy and fellow judges. The influential panel includes British designers Giles Deacon and Katie Miller, L.A stylist to the stars Arianne Phillips and London-based model Ben Grimes. The lucky winner will be given the chance to work for Elle as well as offering their styling skills to Lily Allen and Sarah Owen at their Lucy in Disguise store in London. I would like to take this chance to wish all the ten finalists the very best of luck for the competition – being a fashion blogger I am always up against bloggers for competitions and who can get their name out their first, and it’s hard work! So well done to all the shopgirls for getting this far. They all must have a lot of talent and it’s nice to see Elle giving girls who struggle to get into the fashion industry a chance. All the best! x
