Shop: Very.co.uk and Diana Vickers

I was stood snapping away at Antipodium’s S/S11 collection at Somerset House when I first saw Diana Vickers in the flesh. I was really surprised and had to actually stare at her for a good ten minutes (like what those annoying people do when they see a celeb, oops) before I confirmed in my head it was her. She was tiny, and I mean teeny tiny. She was dressed in a fitted black top and A-Line skirt and looked absolutley amazing. Since then, I changed my opinion of her and see her as a more stylish figure than just an X Factor star.

Diana's Dee V range has launched at Very.co.uk

So when I heard that her clothing collection with Very.co.uk launched yesterday, I wasn’t surprised she had gone down this route. She wowed us back on X Factor with her whimsical dresses, but if this is what you’re expecting from the range, you’ll be surprised! Dee V, her new fashion line, is vintage inspired with a twist. There are some typical Diana style floral dresses, mixed up with printed playsuits and 60’s style jeans, although the item that caught my eye was a gorgeous sequin graphic dress!

Behind the scenes: Make up touch ups…

So what does Diana have to say about her fashion line? Here is the interview that Very.co.uk conducted with the style icon nehind the scenes of the Dee V shoot!

Very: Which is you personal favorite piece?
Diana: Oh gosh! Um…. I can’t believe your going to make me chose just one! I think it’s got to be the Cherry Blossom Print Dress! It’s so cute and summery, and makes a statement without being over the top.”

Very: What is your ultimate wardrobe fail-safe?
Diana: Any of my treasured Mulberry bags!

Very: What fashion designer do you most admire?
Diana: There are so many great fashion designers out there! I love Julian J Smith’s use of fabric and Marcus Lupfer is another of my favorites. You cannot forget Stella McCartney. Her collections are so classic with gorgeous cuts.

Very: What were your main influences during the designing process?
Diana: I looked to my fashion icons Bridget Bardot, Kate Moss and Carey Mullinger. The film ‘An Education’ really inspired me, I love 60’s fashion with A-Line shapes, shift dresses and short hemlines which is evident in my colection.

Very: Who did you design the collection for? Did you have a specific person in mind?
Diana: Just young women who have a light-hearted, flirty relationship with fashion. Women who are keen to experiment with interesting prints, retro cuts, bright and pastel colours. I’d like to think the collection will have a wide audience. There are pieces to suit different shapes with shift dresses, A-line skirts, playsuits, jersey tee’s and wide leg jeans. I didn’t have a set person in mind but did have an idea of the personalities I wanted to appeal to.
