Winter whites have certainly been big news so far this season. Although I’m usually a big fan of those dark shades, it’s great to see a change to the deep blues and burgundies that we’ve become so accustom to. According to fashion experts, nudes and neutrals are a classic for spring 2017, so why not add some of this years hottest colour trend to your transitional wardrobe, too?
Think blush pinks and muted taupes, either worn from head to toe or used to complement all black outfits through the addition of flesh-toned shoes and accessories.
Head-to-toe nude may seem a little daunting at first, but this neutral colour palette is actually surprisingly easy to pull off. Kim Kardashian is a notable fan of the trend and regularly works the look both day and night, but you don’t have to opt for bodycon spandex to make an impression.
This nude jumper from Tu is incredibly versatile and can be worn with jeans for a more pared down look. Team the piece with some tailored joggers in a similar stone shade however, and you’ve got yourself a wearable take on the all over neutral trend. A camel duster jacket and flesh coloured accessories will finish the look off nicely.
Black and nude is a fail-safe colour combination, making it easier than ever to transform this trend into something suitable for eveningwear. Team a classic LBD with a simple pair of nude court shoes, or throw a black blazer over the top of a blush pink midi dress for a little something extra. Or, opt for a nude shade dress altogether, like the one from my What Emma Did Boutique below.
If you’re going for a more laid-back look, try teaming a pair of fitted black trousers with a blush pink camisole. There are plenty to choose from on the high street – opt for one with a satin finish for an effortless evening outfit that just oozes sex appeal.
The easiest way to wear the nude trend is by adding some subtle details to your existing wardrobe. Shoes are ideal for doing just that – whether it’s with a pair of comfortable trainers or evening-appropriate heels.
This pair of perforated trainers from Tu would look great with black skinny jeans for the weekend, especially when toughened up with the addition of a leather biker jacket. Stick to charcoal greys throughout the rest of the outfit to really make the nude details pop.
Nudes for every day
If the thought of wearing nude shades is still a little too much to handle, try starting with smaller accessories instead. Gloves and scarves are a must at this time of year and there are plenty of nude hues to be found on the high street. The best part is that neutral shades go with just about everything, so there’s no need to change your existing wardrobe to fit them in.
When it starts getting warmer, try a watch with a nude strap. Opt for one that is chic and sophisticated enough to be worn both at the office and on the weekend. Investing in a classic timepiece is one way to make a nod to the nude trend in style.
