The other week, I experienced what I can only call as a perfect girls weekend. Based in my favourite city of Manchester, I took part in the #SleepWellShopWell event put together by Premier Inn, The Front Row Society, Propellernet and Manchester blogger Megan Ellaby. The event was all about us fashion fanatical Manchester bloggers getting the chance to network together, and explore the best places to shop in this wonderful city (I am a little biased with growing up here – but I honestly do love this place!)
I checked into my Premier Inn hotel near Piccadilly Station on the Friday evening, and had an hour and a half to relax in my comfy hotel room and spruce myself up before an evening of dinner, drinks and blogger chats at one of my favourite restaurants – San Carlo Fumo. I spent New Years Eve here earlier this year, and love the classic interior, marble walls, amazing food and lovely service. Not to mention that I am an Italian food freak, so the fact that Fumo provides Italian tapas is just incredible. Myself and around 20 other fashion bloggers all sat together and divulged into what seemed to be a 20 course meal – food and wine literally just kept arriving and it was delicious!
Some of the Italian dishes I enjoyed the most included was the plate of pork, cheese stuffed crusts with prosciutto ham, mini pizzas and mussels with spaghetti. The best mixture of Italian meats, seafood and pastas. Oh and the dessert was simply devine – the largest ice cream sundae mixed with Ferreo Rocha chocolates and sweet breaded sticks. I was in a total food coma!
For the event, I wore an orange chain strap vest top from H&M, and a midi swing skirt from Boohoo. Nice and casual, yet dressy and smart at the same time.
The next day was just as lovely, as all us bloggers filled our bellies with an all you can eat breakfast buffet at the Premier Inn, before following a carefully put together Manchester guide based on fashion and shopping, and then hit the city to shop til we drop. I purchased a fantastic little dress from River Island in Manchester Arndale (if you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen it already!) which I bought for a weekend night out.
Manchester has so many great shopping areas: you have the Northern Quarter for quirky fashion and vintage stores such as Afflecks Palace, Thunder Egg and Blue Rinse, and then fashion aside there is my favourite store in the world, Magma. Magma retails the coolest magazines and books for the creative industries, such as design, advertising and graphics. It’s the place where I go to purchase my ‘bibles’ such as ID magazine and Dazed & Confused.
On an ending note, this is the second time in a month I have stayed over at a Premier Inn hotel and I have to say I have never been disappointed. The rooms are great sizes, with comfy, high up double beds and a chez long, with modern bathrooms and dark curtains. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed a good nights sleep here every time, and I’ll definitely be checking for a Premier Inn when I need a hotel in an area I may have to visit.
The weekend was so lovely – a huge thanks to everyone who made is special!
