Lifestyle: October Favourites

whatemmadid
We may only be half way through October, but I thought it’s a pretty good idea to put together my round-up of personal October favourites to share with you before the months up. I’ve been discovering some really lovely things and visited some nice little places, so I’ve put them in a list format today to showcase to you all…

As usual, there’s a random mix of beauty, lifestyle and food, so a good old mixed bag for October!

Lancome Grandoise Mascara: I have been meaning to share my love for this mascara for so many months, and have only just found the time to squeal about it. I have always been a huge fan of Lancome Doll Eyes and Lancome Hypnose Mascara, but as I was doing my friends bridal makeup earlier this year (which you can read about here), I was recommended from the counter lady to try out the Grandoise instead – a wide angle fan effect mascara. Not only does it apply a thick coating of dramatic black to make lashes look volumised and longer in length, it also comes with a bent shaped brush which is actually really handy for application. It means that you can apply it without risking touching the brush onto the skin, and is designed to be a great product for applying onto other people. So in other words, it’s a make-up artists dream mascara! It’s fairly pricey at £24.50, but I notice a huge difference to my lashes when wearing this. Bigger, bolder and more beautiful lashes. Available at Lancome.

Charlotte Tilbury K.I.S.S.I.N.G Lipsticks: Not only can I not get enough of the stunning rose gold packaging, but my latest two lipstick shades from the Charlotte Tilbury brand are absolutely luscious! I’m the proud owner of Bitch Perfect and Nude Kate (he shade on the photos above) from the K.I.S.S.I.N.G collection, two soft muted shades perfect for the Autumn season. Ideal for daytime wear, Bitch Perfect is more of a dusky pink shade, kind of one of those fail safe shades that will suit anyone. However, the Nude Kate is a much more daring option for me because I rarely wear nude shades on my lips for the wear of looking too washed out with my fair skin. Luckily, this shade is so creamy and the tiniest hint of a soft beigey pink so that my lips are brought to life with a touch of colour. Both shades had a little bit of shine, but are neither glossy or matte and seem to sit in-between and feel so moisturising when worn. The K.I.S.S.I.N.G range contain an anti-oxident, UV protection, light diffusing pigments and a special blend of waxes making Charlotte Tilbury lipsticks my new favourite lipstick brand. For £23 each they again don’t come fairly cheap, but my word they worth it!

Elizabeth Arden Beautiful Colour Moisturising Smokey Plum Lipstick: This is another daring option for me, as where I mentioned before I rarely wear nude shades, I also steer away from dark plum shades as my lips are terribly thin. I thought this shade would draw attention to how small they are, but it actually makes my lips stand out and look fabulous! I was so surprised at how much this Smokey Plum shade suited me, and drastically glamourised my look with one single application. May I add that this lipstick actually smells devine to – a real sweet scent which makes applying it even more of a joy. Not only is the colour (and scent!) fantastic, it’s a real long lasting lipstick too, as I found the shade stayed on for a lot longer than expected. It’s lovely and moisturising for my lips, and again in a similar way to the Charlotte Tilbury lipstick it has the most beautiful packaging. Packaging really makes a different to how you can feel about a lipstick! I feel like I own a truly luxurious lipstick when I hold this in it’s shiny gold casing. For £21, it’s worth every penny and also makes a premium gift for someone too. Available at Elizabeth Arden.

Debenhams Flowers: There is nothing nicer than giving the gift of flowers, but knowing an ideal flower supplier to deliver a lovely bunch can take some researching. You always need a cross of a few things: an extensive choice, high quality, excellent service and an appropriate price range. Oh and not forgetting an amount of communication in the form of order and delivery updates. Well I think I found this in the form of Debenhams flower bouquet delivery service. As Debenhams are such a trusted department store brand, it seems only natural they have extended their offering to cater for a floral bouquet delivery service, where you can now send flowers as a gift to friends and family. I received this stunning bunch of Peach Roses as part of this particular flower delivery, which I absolutely love, although the choices in general are just so beautiful. I especially love the little bunches of luxury roses which they offer, coming in at around £25.99 so a bunch of 20. The colours are so bold and the arrangements so pretty!

There really is no gift quite like a bunch of flowers to tell someone you are thinking of them, or want to congratulate someone, or just to brighten up someones day! And ordered from the right retailer, you can send a bunch as Next Day Flowers. I gave my parents a bouquet from Debenhams to say thank you for helping me with my recent purchase of my first house – they sent many hours helping to renovated the place and make it much more modern, and as I’m living on my own, their help was so appreciated. But parents being parents simply won’t take a gift from me, but this flower delivery went down a treat! I’ve teamed up with Debenhams to offer you guys a lovely 25% off any floral bouquets you decide to order from Debenhams too, by using the code DFBLOG25. The only bouquets exempt from the discount is the Flowers By Post range.

Proper Tea, Manchester Cathedral: Oh what a hidden gem in Manchester City Center! Situated behind the Cathedral, Proper Tea is a more contemporary take on the traditional British tearooms. Serving fine loose leaf teas alongside fresh homemade meals and delicious hand crafted treats, the interior is light and fresh with wooden tables and a relaxed atmosphere. The menu boasts a large range of afternoon teas, cream teas and cakes alongside hearty stews, soups and sandwiches. I love how the green tea comes complete with a ‘tea timer’ so you know your trusty tea is brewed to the correct time! I came here for a blogger event ran by Get The Label, where a group of lifestyle bloggers all discussed a recent fitness campaign we did entitled #StayFitDontQuit, which you can read more about here. After a months worth of keeping fit, we tucked into freshly toasted bagels piled up with cream cheese, sugar free flapjacks and the most amazing superfood salad and fruit selection. This is a place I’ll be recommending to friends from now on…

Clinque Chubby Stick: So I recently reviewed this over on my latest contouring post, and I do have to say I am still raving about it. I just love how it makes contouring the face so much easier, as it’s not too dark therefore blends into foundation and skin really softly and natural. It could perhaps be a little darker for a more dramatic look, but as I opt for a fairly light contour, this does the job for me. If you are a contouring virgin and have no idea how to build up the shading, I really do suggest investing in the sculpting contour chubby stick as it totally fool proof, and can be built up depending on how confident you are with applications.

Roberto Cavalli Paradiso Eau de Parfum: My favourite perfume for October has to be the Roberto Cavalli Paradiso. I actually started wearing this throughout September, and after a month of wearing this as my everyday perfume, felt it was the time to share my new favourite scent with you all. As you will all know I’m a sucker for packaging, and this bottle is so pretty. It has a feminine look, yet also looks uber expensive, meaning it looks great on my dressing table. It’s rounded crystal lid reminds me of those crystal drinking dispensers from the twenties, when everything was overly precious and hand cut. In terms of scent, it has top notes of Bergamot, Mandarin and Neroli combined with Jasmine, Laurel, Pine, Wood and Musk. It’s a truly uplifting scent which is quite earthy and fresh – not quite like any of the other perfumes I currently own. A 30ml bottle costs around £37.00, which would also make a lovely little gift this upcoming Christmas.
