Lifestyle: My Holiday Essentials

Just a quick little post to round up a few photographs from my recent trip to Puerto Del Carmen, and the essentials I took with me which were perfect holiday companions!

Our week in Puerto del Carmen was pretty relaxed: lots of pool days, trips to the beach, walking along the seafront, a trip to Playa Blanca, a trip to see the volcanoes, lots of meals out and drinks along the front. The beaches in both Puerto del Carmen and Playa Blanca in Lanzarote are beautiful, and a lot nicer than I was expecting. No pebbles or rocks, just soft sand and clear waters. Take me back..

Before I jetted away, I received a gorgeous box of holiday essentials from Simply Beach – an online retailer catering everything you need for your holidays, no matter where you are going. They have a fantastic range of swim and beach wear, and then all your accessories, like bags, footwear, jewellery etc.

But what I love the most about Simply Beach, is that the brand looks very premium and luxury, with its extensive range of designer collections. Seafolly and Melissa Odabash both appear on the site, which are two of my very favourite higher end beach brands.

So, Simply Beach kindly kitted me out with skin protection the proper way, with these goodies from Hawaiian Tropic. I didn’t play around with any low SPF’s, and went straight in with the SPF 30 and used this factor the entire holiday. And can I just say that the Lime Colada After Sun Butted smells delicious! I kept it in our apartment fridge, and it literally transformed my hot, sun exposed skin into silky, cool sunkissed skin.

I also had the nicest, brightest bikini throw over outfit by Seafolly to take away with me, also from Simply Beach. The Tropical Vacay Kaftan as seen below was the ideal beach dress to pop on when walking down to the beach, slipping on after a dip in the pool, or even for my adventures around the island when temperatures got too hot for t-shirts!

It’s loose fitting and lightweight, coming in a clear fasten pouch bag, which meant I could just slip it into my beach bag and it literally weighed nothing. If you’re not a fan of this one, they’ve got  loads of other kaftans here.

When I go on holiday, a lot of my followers ask me what books do I read, and do I have any reading recommendations. Well, I have to say that I am “one of those people” who read “those type of self help books” – but by that I mean books about being successful, developing yourself and changing how you think or perceive things.

So for this particular trip, I purchased the Positive Thinking book by Gill Hasson, which teaches you methods of how to banish negative thoughts. A few of you may think ‘woah, that’s deep’, but it really isn’t. I’m guilty of getting wrapped up in negative thoughts and not reflecting on how to see situations as positive, and this book clearly gives pointers on how to change it.

I finished the book on day 4 of my holiday and can’t recommend it enough!

So I actually discovered something brilliant from my Simply Beach package, and that was my Seafolly Turkish Towel. I opened it up and saw a soft white and light turquoise towel packed into a carry around bag, which was incredibly lightweight. When I opened it out and spread it along the floor before I went to see how big it was, I realised you could fit two people on it, making it ideal for couples holidays.

Because its super light and is so easy to carry around (as you just wear it on your back, as per my below photos), it reminded me of those who go on traveling holidays and have no idea where they will stop off and perch on the sand. It’s brilliant for those types of trips. However, I got more than a lot of usage from it on my holiday, taking it to the beach and on walks for when we wanted to sit down, relax, and enjoy the sea views.

Complete with fringing and it’s 100% cotton composition, it fast became a must-have holiday essential i’ll be taking with me every time now!

Overall, a fantastic little holiday made even better with some super beach essentials courtesy of Simply Beach. Now I just nee to figure out a way of getting myself back at the beach!
