You have probably heard me mention a couple of times on the blog that I am in the process of buying a house. As much as I don’t like to jinx things before the official exchange of contracts, it’s all going well and touch wood- it should be officially mine all in a couple of weeks. I’ll be jiggling those keys and being the proud queen of my castle.
It sounds brave and all ridiculously grown-up buying a 2 bedroom house on my own, to live in on my own. But although it’s a solo project, I couldn’t have done it without my Mum. So as Mother’s Day approaches, I wanted to dedicate a blog post to how amazing my Mum is, and if you are as lucky as me, you may enjoy the little bit of inspiration I’m putting forward for how to celebrate Sunday.
Firstly, I wasn’t with my Mum last Mother’s Day. I was on the other side of the world in Australia, and I remember sending her a personalised card full of photo’s of the two of us. I missed her so much – not knowing the next time I’d see my family was pretty hard, as I am incredibly close to them all. But now I am back, and although I have put down the deposit myself for my new house and will be paying my mortgage myself, my Mum will be helping fund the renovations to my house as it needs a bit of work doing to it.
She’s already planning lots of time to dedicate to the house to help with the whole decorating, renovating and moving process. To have that constant support, both financially and emotionally, is one of the nicest things a daughter can know.
If you feel the same as me about your Mum, then check out the latest competition with Parkdean – the UK holiday park company. I’ve just shared with you what makes my Mum a ‘Mum in a Million’ – but here’s the chance for you to tell Parkdean why you think yours is too, and you could win a three or four night stay at a Parkdean holiday park for the two of you! It’ll be the perfect way to surprise her this Mother’s Day. Have a go at entering here, imagine how happy the pair of you would be if you won! A lovely little getaway…
The competition closes on Sunday (15th March – Mothers Day itself) so hurry with entering if you want to be in with a chance.
Me and my twin sister are taking our Mum to Liverpool for the weekend to celebrate the occasion, as well as booking tickets for a show and an evening meal at San Carlo (I adore the Manchester one!). I have also treated her to the most beautiful earrings that I know she will love. These Will Bishop Gold Vermeil Raindrop Earrings from Jewel Street, £85, are absolutely stunning. My Mum is a firm gold jewellery wearer, and likes dainty drop earrings which add that decorative look but subtle enough for everyday wear. They are 18 ct gold and look so elegant – the perfect keepsake that she will treasure.
If your Mum is anything like mine and always insists she doesn’t want any presents, and doesn’t particularly have any huge hobbies or a main interest, then jewellery is the best gift to give. I’d really recommend Jewel Street if you need to get some last minute orders in to shop for your Mum, as they retail an extensive range of jewellery designers, and even have a dedicated Mothers Day page which showcases handpicked items perfect for this Sunday.
So there you go, a little bit of inspiration for your Mum’s this Mothers Day. Hope you all have a lovely Mothering Sunday!
