Lifestyle: July Health and Beauty Update

ecodenta
OK so July has been a busy month so far, doing what I do best- which is exploring new health and beauty products! In fact, this month alone I have uncovered so many fantastic ones that I’ll be splitting them out across numerous posts in the coming weeks. This Summer I’ve been overly impressed with so many new products, it’s getting a little mental trying to work out which are my favorites!

So today’s post is going to touch on two lovely beauty launches that have recently burst onto the scenes that I’m currently utilising everyday. The first is a whitening toothpaste, the second is a beauty all-rounder. Lastly, I’ll be touching on a little contribution I did for a health and fitness brand, so sit back and have a little read…

Ecodenta Charcoal Toothpaste, Holland & Barrett

If there is one beauty ingredient that I would say has rocked my 2016, i’d say it was charcoal. And we’re only half way through the year too! I’ve recently been discovering the wonders of charcoal in many products, more recently my Dermalogica Charcoal Face Mask, which is absolutely brilliant at brightening my skin and renewing my sluggish, dull skin calls. My most recent charcoal favourite is this Ecodenta toothpaste which I found in Holland & Barrett after hearing about it at a Holland & Barrett beauty event. A little bit about the product:

The Ecodenta Extra Black Whitening Toothpaste effectively removes plaque and has a strong whitening and uniquely refreshing effect. The innovative substance in Ecodenta Extra Black Whitening Toothpaste is known as Teavigo™; it protects against tartar, provides a gentle antibacterial effect, and leaves you with a long-lasting feeling of cleanliness and freshness. Presenting a more refreshing toothpaste with more whitening which is as black as coal!

So how have I been finding it? I would say it’s been about a month now since I started, and I have seen a slight improvement. It hasn’t immediately lifted any stains or given me a gleaming grin, but what I have noticed is that my teeth look cleaner. I know that’s the aim of toothpaste, right? But I mean I really do notice they look a little cleaner all round the edges.

I never had yellow stained teeth or anything, but they were never bright white. And although she still aren’t, I do feel like this toothpaste is working well to give my teeth that clarity and whiter tinge I have been looking for. It’s also a pleasure to use – tastes and feels just like normal toothpaste, with no black residue was rinsed away. For £3.99, I’ll be continuing to use it and expect to see even better results!

Leighton Denny Marvel Balm

I’ve always been a huge fan of Leighton Denny nail polishes, so when I heard about the launch of Marvel balm, I only had high hopes for it. Marvel balm is one of Leighton Denny’s latest ventures outside from the world of nails (the brand also do fragrance), and in my opinion this product is a pretty good product to launch. With bodycare in mind, it is designed to help hydrate cuticles, lips, elbows and areas of dry skin all over the body while gently soothing due to its blend of vitamins and minerals. Continued use is said to be ideal for improving the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and basically providing an all-round helping hand for skin.

As soon as I got my hands on this balm, I was jetting off to head to Rhodes. So naturally, I popped this into my travel bag and decided to try it out during the flight and beyond. I started to use it on my lips, as it has a light floral scent along with a glossy yet soothing texture making it a pleasure to apply. I love soft, glossy lips during the day, so I found this a great replacement for a natural lipstick or lipbalm.

The fact this balm has a multi-tasking formula works really well for me, as I tend to get much more use out of an all-rounder product which has multi uses. I’ve been smoothing this on my hands and nails to nourish the cuticles, and have also been applying on my knees and elbows before using fake tan. I can imagine it being a really good pre-spray tan product to pop on dry areas actually. With its moisturising blend of vitamins and minerals, this non-greasy balm can be used on extra dry skin to restore long-lasting hydration. One of my newest favourite travel essentials!

My Book Feature

Last but not least, slightly stepping away from beauty  little, is my latest contribution to a fitness and cooking book. Train fitness have put together a downloadable recipe book entitled 16 Super Healthy Recipes To Super-charge Your Life. It’s based on how eating for health automatically makes eating for fat loss or muscle gain all-the-more effective. The description of the book states that loading the body systems with optimal levels of the right nutrients is like oiling the ‘metabolic machinery’, which drives metabolism and pushes your results forward with each and every healthy meal you follow or create.

In true Emma style, I have contributed to the desserts page. But fear not – it’s not any old dessert! It’s my old favourite trusty healthy, sugar free nut and banana flapjack. Made with just oats, nuts, bananas, coconut oil, peanut butter and any toppings/additions you require, it’s 100% all natural.

Don’t just take my word for it, check it out here and also have a look at all the other fantastic, inspirational recipes!
