I know you have heard it many times over, but yes it’s Christmas. It’s the month of December and we can’t avoid the fact that we need to Christmas shop before the big day of the 25th arrives. I’ve been making my Christmas shopping this year a little more ‘fun’ by trying to allow myself the odd little treat to spur me on with my shopping sprees – I mean, shopping for other people is lovely and all… but it’s not as fun taking it all home and having no little selfish gift too! It’s Christmas, so I guess my message here is don’t neglect yourself. Make it for you and treat yourself a little instead of letting the stress of everyone else’s Christmas get to you…
Take for example my very mini way of giving myself a touch of happiness. Here’s a clue!
So whilst I was shopping in Boots for a mixture of aftershave for the Dad, make-up for the Sister etc etc, I’ve been collecting a few mini’s from cosmetic brand Benefit along my way. Ooops. But these are so great for the handbag, and as you all know I love reviewing new make-up finds and discovering new favourites. However, I realised that I had actually spent a good chunk of my money in Boots lately and had a little look online to see if I could find any voucher codes of discount sites that include Boots, before I spend another chunk of money in store!
It’s Winter and I need to start ‘treating myself’ to other well-being products such as vitamins and health products to look after myself, so after doing a spot of searching I came across a website I wish I had discovered earlier. Health Voucher Codes is a UK based online discount voucher code and promotional offers website, displaying codes related to health, beauty and fitness. It takes the searching process away from you, and finds all the deals itself. With the UK becoming more health conscious and shoppers becoming savvier, its a dedicated site making is cheaper to be healthier. If you are into beauty, health, fitness and well-being, it may be worth taking a look at this site before you start your shopping!
As I’m looking mainly at present for vitamins and nutrition as my next little treats for myself whilst I Christmas shop, I found myself browsing the discounts from Boots and Holland & Barrett whilst on HealthVoucherCodes. But I did spot lots of brands that the site listed which would really appeal to a lot of people close to me; for instance Maxifuel, LA Fitness, Diet Chef, BodyBuilding Warehouse and MyProtein are all listed with offers and discounts. I know so many people with an interest in protein, fitness and diet, and who constantly shop online for deals in these retail areas, therefore they will definitely benefit visiting this site.
So when I spotted the offers at Boots, such as 3 for 2 on make-up (I haven’t finished my cosmetic binge shop yet of course!) or save 10% when you spend £100 (I have spent way over this in the last week at Boots…) I took advantage and used these offers to purchase some larger version products from the mini Benefit cosmetics I had previously treated myself too. This is one of my favourites…
The above is the lovely Watts Up product from Benefit – a subtle shimmer highlighter to help when contouring the face. After I use bronzer to contour my cheekbones, temples and jawline, this highlighting stick adds a delightful golden glow to the top of my cheeks, nose, forehead and upper lip to ‘bring forward’ the areas I want highlighting. It’s so easy to use and the colour and finish is exactly what I expect from a highlighter. It really adds that lightening-up touch, bringing my face to ‘life’ and helping with the whole contouring escapade.
I also tested on my hand the effects of Benefit’s Highbeam highter and Fake up concealer, which I am loving so much lately too – a review will follow shortly! The subtle golden shimmer of the Watts up is the product on the right of my hand picture above. It doesn’t make you look like you have an over-the-top shimmery, shiny face, so is great to use everyday on top of your foundation. Just make sure you set with a finishing powder to keep the look in place.
The shots below are of my ‘Benefit face’ – using the It’s Potent! Eye cream, Stay Flawless 15 hour primer, and the Watt’s up highlighter. Foundation and blusher from MAC (my usual’s) and finishing powder from bareMinerals (again, my new usual product since my last post about the brand here). Slightly off the record, but how fab is the Dorothy Perkins furry snood type scarf I’m wearing here too? Ready to go out and face the cold!
