You know it’s officially Christmas when you have a Christmas party planned, right? I love absolutely nothing more than an annual Christmas shindig, and usually in no other than my home city of Manchester.
This year, I had a little swerve to the norm, because as well as my own works party, I was invited along to experience a fantastic Christmas Party experience at one of Manchester’s key venues: Emirates Old Trafford, at Lancashire County Cricket Club (LCCC).
This year, Emirates Old Trafford opened its doors to host a ‘Magical Christmas Time‘ – a party venue for private or shared Christmas parties.
So last Saturday – 2nd December – I put on my Christmassy, sassy red dress and heels, as myself and my boyfriend headed to The Point, at Emirates Old Trafford, for a festive extravaganza.
And whats more, there’s a brand new hotel situated literally next door to the party venue, offering a modern and stylish place to stay after your Christmas party. It’s a super nice one too – The Hilton Garden Inn, a luxurious 4 star hotel with 150 rooms, some even over looking the cricket. ground with their very own balcony!
We checked into our hotel first, admiring the newness and clean decor the hotel had to boast. Plus, because it’s Christmas time, it didn’t half get me in the festive spirit. We were greeted by the most amazing Christmas treee and twinking lights. The perfect start to our party!
I also want to add in how lovely this little book all about Manchester is that was placed on the table. It literally covers everything about the city, from the best Italian restaurants and cocktail bars, to the top 5 attractions to visit in the city.
I’d assume so many people travel to Manchester to watch the cricket and the legendary LCCC, so if the guests stay at the Hilton Garden Inn, they are full prepped with a private balcony for viewing the game, and a book to tell them everything they need to know about Manchester.
So – onto the party, which is always the best bit. We were greeted with a glass of Prosecco and Cranberry, before being whisked up to the higher level bar area, complete with huge glass walls which over look the starlight dance floor. We could see all the large round tables all beautifully laid out, ready for the guests to be served up a three course meal and to get on their merry way!
The venue itself seats up to around 850 people with space for a dance floor and stage area. The size of the venue is ideal – not too oversized, but plenty big enough to mingle your way around, complete with an inside the room bar. The dance floor and stage area were what really sold it to me though; it’s a gorgeous light up floor, with a large stage to host whatever entertainment is on for the evening.
In true traditional Christmas party style, we were served up a three course meal which included a classic Turkey dinner as the main (there was of course vegetarian options too), which is always more than appreciated during the run up to Christmas. Why we only have a properly cooked full Turkey dinner with all the trimmings just once a year, I’ll never know!
I chose a creamy mushroom soup for starter, and a delicious cheesecake dessert. With this, we had a couple of drinks vouchers we could exchange at the bar (always a bonus when on a Christmas party, its such a faff messing with money) so we made sure our fizz was topped up.
The service was brilliant, it really couldn’t be faulted. To say the staff had 1200 people to cater for and deliver food to, it came out promptly, where no one had to wait for theirs much longer than another tables, drooling over their neighbouring tables food. It was hot upon arrival, and cooked to perfection.
After we had dined, we were lucky enough to have out little table positioned right at the side of the dancefloor, where we could watch the live band and everyone getting up to have a dance. But of course when the Christmas music kicked in and all the Santa Baby classics came on, you couldn’t get me off the dancefloor…
Attending this magical Christmas party on Saturday 2nd December was the perfect was to kick in the festive season and really start thinking about Christmas. Once the evening was over and we had the short 1 minute stroll to the hotel, it really did begin to feel like Christmas.
If you’re workplace – or private party – are considering a change of venue for a Christmas party, I’d strongly recommend this place. It’s in a central location with huge parking grounds, with the added bonus of a lovely new hotel right next door to it. The bar offerings are extensive, the food was delicious, the size of The Point was more than ideal and the entertainment and ambience was spot on.
Thanks for having us, both Emirates Old Trafford and Hilton Garden Inn, we’ll no doubt be back…
