I’ve always been a lipstick girl over a gloss. There’s just something about applying a creamy solid colour which sinks into my lips which I prefer much more than a sticky gloss. My hair constantly blows in my face with it being so fine, and when wearing gloss, I’m simply left with gooey strands of hair lightly pink tinted.
If you’re the same as me, you might be keen to hear about bareMinerals Gen Nude Liquid Lip Colours. They look like a gloss, glide on like a gloss, but finish like a lipstick. So they still have that dewy liquid texture and glossy finish, yet they sink in like a lipstick and don’t sit ‘wet’ on the lip. These ones are long-wearing and moisturizing, which give that full-coverage cream-to-matte color in a range of statement-making nude shades. When I wear these, I feel like I’m applying a gloss, but with its no-tack texture, it is so much nicer to use. Oh and they all smell delicious – a subtle vanilla scent!
Which brings me on to some of my favourite lipsticks I’ve discovered so far in 2017. So I’m a bit of a lipstick snob, and will instantly stop using one when I see the first signs of ‘cakiness’ and that horrible flaking effect. Saying that, I still like a good old matte finish, but one which doesn’t give a drying effect. Introducing the bareMinerals Gen Nude Radiant Lipstick in shade LOVE– my new daily must have. This creamy lipstick offers medium coverage and and a subtle balmy shine, in a warm pinky red shade which brightens up my complexion. Kind of like a soft raspberry.
Plus, it’s formulated with natural oils and butters, so the lipstick works to provide moisture to my lips whilst smoothing their appearance too. It just gives a super soft, blended look, without any obvious shine or gloss. And of course it has the sweet vanilla scent that the liquid lip has too, which just makes me hungry every time I apply it!
My second favourite lipstick brand and shade I’d recommend so far this year is my other new discovery: Illamasqua Glamour in Rosepout. Again, it’s another hydrating colour lipstick which protects my pout. It’s enriched with moisturising Vitamin E, which is obvious from the first application, as again it has that soft, blamy effect.
As I love my long-wearing lipstick formulas, this one seems to last a good few hours without the need to re-apply, and it glides on effortlessly too. The shade Rosepout is what I’d call an everyday nude, but not ‘too nude’ to sit in the natural nude category, if I make sense! It has a light touch of rose pink, adding pinky tones for a flirty, feminine look.
Illamasqua’s Glamour Lipsticks retail at around £19.50, which bareMinerals Gen Nude Lipsticks coming in at around £18. Both in the mid-high price range, but worth every penny in my opinion
