Fashion: Winter Waistcoat and PhD Celebrations

No, it isn’t me who has scooped a PhD unfortunately. I stopped my education at BA Hons level and have no idea where i’d find to time to re-visit any form of studying. The PhD is down to my unbelievably clever twin sister, who is now official a ‘Doctor’ (not medically though, more of the science, biology type doctor!). So yesterday we heard the fantastic news that after 4 years of studying and thesis producing, she passed with flying colours – so I am proud as punch!

So we headed to The Living Room on Manchester’s Deansgate to pop open a bottle or two of Prosecco, take advantage of the 2 4 1 cocktail offers, and of course, Peroni’s all round for the men. My own personal celebration was that I managed to hunt down a black faux fur gillet type waistcoat that I have been searching for too (not nearly as exciting as my sisters celebrations!) but I sourced it for a bargain price of £15 from Primark. £15 for a stylish ball of fluffy and furry black snuggles. I threw it on top of a jumper dress I bought last fortnight from H&M, complete with a metal collar necklace, and I was all ready for mid week drinks…

I had seen similar black faux fur waistcoats at various other retailers for £30 and above. Still reasonably cheap and worth it, however this Primark version does more than enough and has received so many compliments! If your looking for a winter addition to your wardrobe, I recommend this item very much… it can be thrown over just about anything. I also used it to tone down my shocking pink Topshop top for workn too…

Anyway… cheers to my sister for her excellent achievements… French Martini’s are my all time favourite cocktailo and I much appreciated an excuse to sip them on a work night… Oh and check out the amazing cake I arranged to be baked for her too! White lab coat – check! Pen in pocket – check! Name badge confirming Doctor status – check! Thank you to my amazing friend Kris Ramos for this delight of a cake. We’ll be eating it tonight at Alberts Shed in Castlefield. Happy weekend everyone!

I’ve been after a waistcoat like that too, but wasn’t keen to pay a lot as I’m not entirely confident about what I’d wear it with. There’s a Primark down the road from my office so I’ll be going to scope that out asap!
