It’s arrived – wedding season is creeping up and before we know it, it’s time to frantically shop around for the perfect wedding guest dress. The older I get, naturally the more weddings I get invited too, and this year see’s 4 full day weddings to attend from May-August! 2015 is quite a financially stressful year for me – I am in the process of buying my own house, along side rennovating the place, and it will overlap with the apartment contract slightly. This means that there won’t be much disposable money lying around for dress shopping!
Hopefully, your not in such a tight situation as I, so I wanted to put together a quick post highlighting three different ways to shop for your wedding guest dress, on three different budgets!
Yes, this is me. Budget shopping for the next 6 months! Luckily I managed to come across an amazing sale in Afflecks Palace in Manchester, and it made me realise that these type of ‘rummage’ shops with rails of mixed brands can be really good for one off finds! The pink floral shift dress in the photo above was reduced from £30 to £10 – so it didn’t even start off expensive! The label is branded by ‘Diffuse’, a name I’m not too familiar with, however that’s the beauty of random sale shopping! If you need some occasion dresses for the Spring and Summer, try to locate your local markets or thrift shops, or even better, quirky little independant boutiques when are running promotions. I love my cheap find – just excuse the scraped up hair and no-make-up face!
The High Street is usually a fail safe place to visit for a reasonable priced dress for weddings. You have all the popular brands such as River Island, Oasis, Warehouse, New Look and H&M retailing trend led designs that can cost from £20-£80. If you want to have a really good look across a number of brands, then department stores such as House of Fraser and Debenhams can be really good for this, as you get full brand accessory inspiration too. The perfect place to shop your dress, jewellery, bag, shoes and hair pieces. I love the Black and White Floral Organza Dress above from River Island – a limited edition design for £50. It’s so classic and cute, that even once the Summer season has passed, this will see you through the Autumn paired with tights and a smart black blazer. Chic!
And here is my very favourite dress brand – Forever Unique. How I wish I could treat myself to one of their stunning designs this Summer. They have a new collection called Poolside Paradise, which features bold citrus shades in show-stopping cuts and finishes, perfect for wedding guest attire. With a slick of self tan, large Summer waves and killer accessories, the new collection is set to wow. And boy do I wish I could turn up to all these weddings this year rocking a little Forever Unique number.
My favourites are the top and bottom dresses, the SASSIA Ivory and Yellow Fully Beaded Shift Dress. £45, and the SUKI Lime Green Dress, £275. The colour palettes are so fresh and bright, radiating glamour and elegance. If you want the one dress this wedding season that is an absolute diamond of a dress, one that is the real head turner, then take a look at the New Arrivals section of Forever Unique and you’ll spy some beautiful designs.
How many weddings do you lot have this Spring/Summer, and how will you be shopping?
