So ‘Fashion Month’ is over and out – another season gone as we eagerly await the next half a year to pass, for the next one. This time around, I’ve officially become much more of a ‘full time’ freelancer, writing a lot of blogs and articles for various fashion brands and publications. I know that I have always blogged and contributed to fashion magazines, but usually quite sporadically. However I am currently taking on much more freelance fashion writing and copywriting to run alongside What Emma Did, which has made me busier than ever during the recent LFW, PFW and NYFW (London, Paris & New York Fashion Week for those not ‘down’ with the abbreviations).
This means that I feel like I am completely clued up with my upcoming trends, having reported them for lots of publications. Lace, Frills, Citrus Brights, 80’s Glam Rock, Checks and Plaids, Off-Shoulder, Metallics, English Botanic Blooms and Textured Whites: all the lovely and fresh trends we can start incorporating into SS16 fashion. My favourite of all has to be the lace trend – I am so so happy this is coming back! Lace is just super girly and elegant, and also a little bit ‘twee’ when worn for casual daytime outfits. However for evening wear, lace can be daring and dramatic, with sheer lace sleeve details or overlay dresses. My two favourite dresses from my What Emma Did Boutique both actually capture the lace trend too, so this is brilliant news for me!
A huge thank you to Midori, who helped me celebrate the closure of Fashion Month with a super Fashion Week Survival Kit, which of course included a tasty bottle of the Melon Liqueur itself…
How amazing are these Midori decorated personalised biscuits from Biscuiteers? They taste soooo sweet, like little gingerbread cakes but with a softer texture, and don’t taste too much of ginger, if that makes sense? Definitely the first thing that came to my head when I tucked in!
The handy survival kit contains all the essential items to keep fashionistas sane during the crazy Fashion Month – mini dry shampoo, mini deodorant, sweet treats, a fashionable notebooks for all the note taking, and the uber cute FujiFilm Instax mini 8 camera which provides instant photographs (I love this concept!). The camera looks adorable – a little chunky white bubble!
However, Fashion Month isn’t celebrated properly without a unique cocktail in hand, and I spent some time mixing up some delicious cocktails with Midori, the Funkin’ cocktails, and lashings of soda water and lemonade. Extremely refreshing indeed…
I don’t know about you, but now that I’m overjoyed with the fact that delicate lace is back big time for 2016, I’ll be sporting my favourite lace dresses a lot more often now. My two favourites are below, and the navy one even incorporates the ‘off-the-shoulder’ trend which was always in the spotlight during LFW.
All hail the lace!
