First of all, a little apology in terms of photography on whatemmadid.com as of late. Juggling working on my photography and blog posts whilst I work full time and going into the dark depths of Winter means I’m missing out on lots of natural daylight, hence lots of bulb light and dark lit rooms. Hopefully, things will ease up soon and I can start making some time to appreciate the daylight and start working on the old photography!

Anyway, today’s blog post is showcasing to you an outfit of the day look, and one that I am currently loving lots! It’s all down to two things: the first, I now own the loveliest pair of black wedge ankle boots from Jake Shoes, and the second, I’m sporting monochrome. Obviously. Because when do I ever seem to not sport my favourite black/white/grey/navy combinations? I’m a true lover of darker colour palettes in the Winter months, and this little ensemble I wore for work is quite a cute little look if I do say so myself.

I recently got my hands on this classic pair of black wedge ankle boots, from the Vagabond brand, which are the ultimate all-rounder. I already know these are going to be the shoes I wear to death this season, and not just because they have a comfy wedge heel just about high enough for everyday wear, but they are also made from quality leathers too, making them durable and strong.

I’m a bit of a shorty at 5 ft 3, so I tend to feel ore comfortable having that added bit of height from my shoes on a daily basis. However, we all know that working all day and rushing around in stacking high heels is never going to work – especially not when the icy snap is just around the corner…

For today’s outfit, I teamed the wedge ankle boots up with a black and white pinafore style dress from Ten Dollar Mall – so yes you guessed it – it cost just $10! I layered it up over a high neck black top from Topshop along with a pair of thick black tights, creating what I’d like to think is a pretty laid back yet smart outfit for during the week. My Vagabond’s look super cool with tights, – I love just how versatile these ankle boots are and will literally pair up with anything. I’ve been wearing them a lot with skinny dark denim jeans recently too, making my dressed down denim look appear a little smarter.

I have to say this is the first pair of shoes I own from Jake Shoes, and overall I’m really impressed with their online store and collections. I was looking for a timeless pair that wouldn’t date quickly or overly adhere to a trend, yet still look stylish, and I was actually spoilt for choice. The range of ankle boots is fairly extensive, with all sorts of timeless styles including those with buckle features, suede detailing, buttons and zips. I also spied a collection of wedge boots from UGG too, which I had no idea were retailing! Pretty cool…

Alongside my Vagabond’s, I noted a wide variety of¬†popular and good quality¬†brands for both ladies and men, and children for that matter too! They retail Sketchers, Timberland, Converse, Doc Martens, Hunter and Hush Puppies, to name a few.

I think these boots will be taking me on a rather a lot of walks around the city this Winter!
