Fashion: New French Connection Store Opens in Manchester

Eighteen months after French Connection closed its original Manchester flagship store, making way for the new & Other Stories store, French Connection is back in the city!

It’s been a highly anticipated launch, with French Connection introducing an all-new concept store at Royal Exchange, close to its old location. The St Anne’s square area of Manchester is known for its boutique and premium shopping feel, making this area once again the perfect home for French Connection.

The new flagship store is modern and minimalist, with a slick styled interior to house a large offering of womenswear and menswear, with both divisions showcased on one floor.  It goes a little further by featuring sustainable materials, carbon store fixtures and ‘honeycomb’ shelving, making the look and feel of the store the first of its kind.

It appears that this new store in Manchester has diminished the younger, noughties theme of ‘FCUK’ that the brand used to pride itself with, as its now representing a more sophisticated, elegant and chic look. Just from stepping in the new store, you can see luxurious velvet part dresses, gunmetal colours, gowns, long tailored coats, cosy knitwear and a super stylish denim department.

I managed to get myself what I now call my hero Winter item from French Connection, to celebrate the new store opening in my city.  It’s the Sofia Knit Blouson Sleeve Jumper, with a high neck and striking black and cream finish. The blouson sleeves, high neck and fashionable monochrome pattern gives this jumper a ‘wow’ factor, making it much more of a stand out piece, although it’s still a classic item.

It makes its debut to the statement sleeve clan, with its contemporary design and soft comforting material making it super soft and lovely to wear. I even layered it up with a big wool coat from Marks and Spencer’s, and it snuggly fits under any thick coat too.

I’m wearing it with wet look skinny trousers here, but it also looks fabulous with culottes, denim jeans and leggings too. For £95, its more of an investment piece, but a hero wardrobe piece all the same.
