What better way to spend a rainy Saturday than to head out for afternoon tea? I literally love nothing more, so when my other half booked us both in at Staffordshire’s Upper House Hotel and Restaurant, I was absolutely delighted!
The Upper House itself is also a wedding venue, and quite a nice one at that. It sits in Barlaston, near Stoke-on-Trent, an area I hadn’t really visited much before. But with it having such a luxury feel and high reputation, I decided to make an effort with my dress code – even though it was grey and rainy outside.
My outfit of choice was from a Manchester fashion wholesaler called Stylewise Direct. I’ve actually used them a number of times with my own dress boutique, so it was nice to pick out a few items from their new collection and style them up for a day out.
Here, I’m wearing this frill detail tan coloured top and black split culottes, which look super smart together yet stylish too. These culottes are sooooo sassy – I didn’t even notice how split they were until I popped them on and sat down and the split rises right up to the top of the thigh (although it doesn’t
I can even wear this outfit together for work – as long as its not too windy and the trousers fly backwards. That way, I’d be revealing a lot of leg!
On a serious note, I can’t get enough of tan coloured clothes, and it works really well with black. Actually, I’ve just realised that this outfit is the perfect Autumnal ensemble to wear for an evening out. Classy, smart and trendy, with the colour fitting in very well with the whole rustic trend that Autumn tends to bring.
On another note, the afternoon tea at The Upper House was so lovely. It cost £16 per person, and you get 5 finger sandwiches, a large scone with jam and cream, and two larges cakes with strawberries and unlimited tea. The cakes were a real treat, because I couldn’t have asked for a more fitting selection: a Victoria Sponge cake and a zesty Ginger slice! Delicious!
When it comes to cakes, I just love nothing more than the traditional bakes. So seeing these two appear on the middle tier was an ideal option for me. Looks like we chose the right place…
