If you’re a regular reader of WhatEmmaDid.com, you’ll have noticed I often wear Vichy Dermablend Fluid Foundation. I first discovered it almost two years ago, and I was overly impressed at how such a tiny amount of product can create such a full, flawless coverage, without looking cakey or piled on (for one of my many posts about my love for this foundation, you can find here)
I work pretty long hours, and predominately in the makeup artistry and beauty blogger industry, so having a smooth, fresh foundation look is really important to me. But more so, it has to last all day. I can’t be re-applying after 6 hours or so – that full face I apply at 7 am has to still be in tact at 7 pm that evening – and beyond!
I’ve recently just refreshed the products from Vichy Dermablend I’m wearing on a daily basis so I thought I’d share them with you in today’s blog post, showcasing exactly what I use and what I love about each. So here we go…
Vichy Dermablend SOS Cover Concealer Stick – £15
I’ve struggled to find a concealer I can stay faithful to for a while now, but this coveted favourite of professional makeup artists has started to sway me. The Vichy Dermablend SOS Cover Concealer Stick is designed to deliver a very high coverage to effectively disguise minor to severe imperfections for up to 16 hours.
I have quite dark under eye circles and also a bit of a ‘dint’ under my eyes lower down, where they appear a little sunken. My sleep pattern has improved enormously, so I’m not too sure what the reason is why I alwaaaays look tired, but either way, I have to heavily apply concealer before buffing on my foundation for that extra concealment.
You can either apply it directly onto the eye area, or do what I do – dab a brush into it and tap onto the skin and blend in. Its fortified with mineral pigments and lightweight oil, so the effect is a rich, creamy texture, highly pigmented which melts into skin upon application. Dark circles are literally zapped away.
I have a couple of marks from acne and a severely uneven skin tone from pigmentation, so I’ll blend this into certain areas on the cheeks and forehead before reaching for my foundation.
Best thing about it is that it’s non-greasy and non-cakey, it doesn’t smudge or budge, and it offers SPF 25 for enhanced protection against sun damage.
Vichy Dermablend Fluid Foundation
Now this one is my holy grail foundation, so it’s no wonder its classed as Vichy’s ultimate high coverage, long hold foundation. As I mentioned before, it provides a natural, flawless finish although using just a little bit literally goes such a long way. Along with exceptional coverage, I swear by it for its long-hold formulation which covers my moderate skin concerns (spots, pigmentation’s, marks from previous breakouts) but it’s also recommended for those with minor and moderate acne, dark circles, redness, vitiligo, rosacea, scars and tattoos.
In case you’re wondering how long it lasts, it stays put for up to 16 hours. I apply it at 7 am as I mentioned above, and it’s still perfectly in place at 7 pm onwards, meaning I continue to wear it without top-ups way into my evening. It’s easy to build up, so if you did want a heavier coverage and more of a fuller look, you just apply more, and it literally won’t budge until you remove it!
It doesn’t dry my skin out at all, and as it has added hydration, I just feel it keeps my skin feeling and looking fresh and dewy, so I really have no reason to move on from this product. A pure staple in both my daily makeup bag, and my professional MUA kit.
For the fluid foundation, I used to use shade 25, Nude, but when I heard they have launched some new shades which were a little warmer, I’ve now given them a go to warm up my complexion a little.
Vichy Dermablend Covermatte Compact Powder Foundation SPF 25 – £20
So, for the new product! For the first time, Dermablend brings a formidable high coverage colour correction in a compact powder foundation. I’ve always been a fluid foundation girl, so I was intrigued to try this powder compact and see how I find it.
It’s fortified with salicylic acid, zinc and vitamin E to treat and improve skin texture and imperfections, which makes this compact particularly beneficial for oily, acne prone skin. It aims to help regulate excessive sebum production to keep skin smooth and matte, all through the day. And that, in my opinion, is what I find so beautiful about Vichy Dermablend – it’s ability to help the skin instead of just cover it up.
For me, I was pleasantly surprised at the coverage it delivered, as I always assume a powder compact can’t compete with those creamy fluid formulas. It’s very easy to build up, and the powder glides on smoothly and blends into the skin hiding any blemishes and pigmentation without caking up.
The mineral foundation completely covers colour concerns in a sheer, matte finish that is said to last for up to 12 hours, and I found it definitely delivered what it says in terms of time frame.
Vichy Dermablend Setting Powder – £18
The key to making any Vichy Dermablend product last forever and ever (OK not literally, but all day long!) is to set it with the translucent Vichy Dermablend Setting Powder. This is the key for that smudge-proof 16 hour long laster! It’s designed to set your make-up and significantly prolong its life, formulated for use with the Dermablend Corrective Foundations although you can happily use it with any other foundation or concealers you wish.
The first time I used it I was curious as to whether remains of the talc-like powder would sit visible even after brushing off, which thankfully, it doesn’t. You simply tap a small amount of the micro-fine, fragrance-free powder onto the included powder puff and gently pat onto the face. You then dab off the excess, leave for a minute or two, and sweep a large powder brush over the face to remove any residue. And ta-da! Make is invisibly set. No budging, smudging, or nudging!
Alongside the foundations, I’ve been trying a new Vichy product as part of my skincare regime, which is the Vichy Mineral 89 Skin Booster serum. I’ve heard lots of hype around this product floating across the beauty world, as it’s got the highest percentage of Mineralising Thermal Water packed into it over any other Vichy product. So it’s a bit of a first!
With this, it delivers intensive hydration along with protection against daily pollutants as well as visible effects of stress and fatigue. Its ultra-fluid formula is light and gel-like, with 89% Mineralising Thermal Water sourced from the depths of French volcanoes and enriched with 15 rare minerals.
It also features Hyaluronic Acid, which is one of the buzz words in skincare at the moment. Hyaluronic Acid is rapidly absorbed and is a great ingredient for treating aging skin, and ensuring the ultimate hydration. Alongside this, the hydrating treatment is said to give a plumped and toned effect without sticky or greasy.
I’ve been using it in this order: cleanse, toner, Mineral 89, concealer, foundation, and so on. I’m finding it a pleasure to use, as it’s keeping my skin moisturised and smooth to touch. I’m yet to see it’s plumping effects but I have only been using it for 3 days! It just seems great for being absorbed into my skin super quickly and making it feel reeeeally really nourished.
I’ve also got my hands on another jar of the SkinCeuticals Triple Lipid Restore 2:4:2, which needs no other introduction than that it is my very, very favourite skincare product. Ever. I’ve raved about it here before, and I’m going to do an updated post soon about how it actually plumps up my lips too as well as well as my skin, and my colleague asked if I’d had my lips done!
So stay tuned for more SkinCeuticals hype…
