Beauty: Urban Decay Alice Through The Looking Glass

One of my all-time favourite cosmetic brands – Urban Decay – is back again collaborating with Disney’s Alice Through the Looking Glass. This new, limited edition eyeshadow palette and five new, limited edition lipsticks have launched into the beauty world, and editors and bloggers alike are going crazy. Including myself!

This fancy pants, all-singing-all-dancing palette can definitely relate to the Cheshire Cat’s proclamation, “We’re all mad here.” Urban Decay introduces this beautifully designed Alice Through the Looking Glass Eyeshadow Palette, which on first impression, I almost thought it too pretty to open up and use. It kind of reminds me of a special jewellery box you just leave on your dresser, staring back at you.

Inspired by the new fantasy-adventure film release of Disney’s Alice Through the Looking Glass, which has made a debut at the theatres, this limited-edition, pop-up palette is a trippy tribute to our favorite characters from the film. Using this visually stunning film as our inspiration, Urban Decay have painstakingly created the perfect mix of 20 ALL-NEW shades, then arranged them all in columns by character and put them in an intricately designed, collectible palette. The idea is to either play around with them all, use your favourite shades alone, or match up the columns to steal their looks (or mix up these shades to create countless others.) From softer shades inspired by Alice’s look in the film to bold, bright shades like those seen on the Mad Hatter, it’s all here:

  • Looking Glass Pale pink demi-matte
  • Hatter Vibrant green with tonal micro-sparkle
  • Lily Opal pink pearl
  • Heads Will Roll Vibrant turquoise with gold micro-sparkle
  • Time Black-navy satin with soft iridescent micro-sparkle
  • Reflection Soft peach matte
  • Gone Mad Aubergine with pink iridescent pearl
  • Duchess Peach with pink shift and micro-sparkle
  • Bandersnatch Deep teal matte
  • Dream On Metallic purple-silver
  • Dormouse Warm brown matte with floating gold micro-sparkle
  • Paradox Vibrant orange with gold pearl
  • Kingdom Copper-bronze pearl
  • Salazen Grum Metallic crimson
  • Chronosphere Metallic deep bronze
  • Metamorphosis Vibrant periwinkle blue with micro-sparkle
  • Cake Saturated blue-pink with silver micro-shimmer

The lipsticks are just as incredible, but I have to say a lot of them are that bit ‘too wild’ for little old me and my classic light pinks or bold reds. I only just took the plunge to wear drastic nude colours earlier this year, so maybe the deep navy blue is a step too far right now. But who knows – after playing around and getting lost in these wild shades, I may change my mind. Here are the shades:

  • Alice Sheer nude with pink shift
  • Mad Hatter Bright purple shimmer
  • Mirana Matte berry with tonal shimmer
  • Iracebeth Bright red matte
  • Time Gunmetal-navy with silver shimmer

The below photos show the most subtle face wearing the Dormouse Warm brown matte with floating gold micro-sparkle eyeshadow colour, and my usual light rose lipstick with a coating of Alice Sheer nude with pink shift dabbed over the top. This is just my casual work face, so don’t you worry: I’ll be hitting those crazy cat colours as soon as evening calls. Just you wait…
