After visiting the Umberto Giannini salon in Manchester’s Harvey Nichols in December, I came back to make my second visit the other week. Obviously, one of the perks about being a beauty blogger is that I get the opportunity to visit a lot of salons in and around Manchester, experiencing what they have to offer. It can be overwhelming, with such excellent places popping up often. This usually means I only really get the chance to return to them after my initial visit if I’m really impressed, and genuinely intrigued about their services.
For Umberto Giannini, this was definitely the case. For such a super chic, luxury salon, I was surprised on my first visit to hear about their extensive range of treatments, affordable prices, flexibility with what they can offer, and all round professionalism. Most of you will know I suffer from a head of extremely dry, highlighted hair, therefore I returned here to experience an intense treatment.
The treatment itself was called the Fusio Dose by Kerastase – a treatment to be applied whilst washing my hair before styling. I watched as my stylist Ben diagnosed my ‘hair situation’ (which is dry and damaged, along with being fine), and chose the best combination of Concentré and Booster to fulfil the needs. He selected the volume and moisture options, mixing them up and applying to my hair for a good ten minute period. The great thing about this treatment is that the results last for up to 5 washes, meaning this really works at getting right into the hair shaft, nourishing and treating from as deeply as possible.
The treatment itself along with a wash and blow dry costs around £25, which is more than reasonable to book in for once a month to keep your locks in tip top condition. If you have an event or evening occasion looming, and usually book in with a stylist to give your hair a little up-do/straighten/curl, then it makes sense to combine this with a Kerastase treatment for optimum results.
After my treatment, Ben used products suitable for my hair type such as Umberto Giannini’s Sex Bomb mousse with a little grape seed oil, to provide protein, hydration and movement. The effect of the mixing looked super cool – like a little cream egg with the oil blending into the mousse. That was a new one for me!
I now own a rather lovely selection of Umberto Giannini products, which I have been thoroughly enjoying using. However, no matter how could your at-home hair products are, I have learnt that putting yourself in the hands of a professional to really treat your hair -just every so often mind – is really worth it. This salon in particular are centrally located in Manchester City Center, and have a real passionate team who want clients to come out not looking ‘just fine’, but fabulous. I’m just overly impressed with how affordable it is for such a luxury service.
Lots of positives about this place! You can find them at Harvey Nichols, 21 New Cathedral Street, Manchester M1 1AD.
