During my day job as a Beauty Editor, I work mainly with the U.S beauty industry, which involves a lot of training with America’s top skincare brands. What I will say is that over in the U.S, people are a lot more savvy with their skin, opting for more advanced, dermatologist and science backed skincare brands than us here in the UK. They really care about using antioxidants to protect and prevent future damage, along with ensuring only the most potent yet safe, highly effective ingredients are used.
One brand in particular I spend a lot of time working with is SkinCeuticals. Now I first heard of them when I lived in Australia, but back then I was more interested in acne fighting products. Now, I’m much more exposed to protection, prevention and correction products (the motto of SkinCeuticals) which transform your skin to the healthiest it’s ever been.
If you read a lot of magazines which feature celebrities and dermatologists must-have products, you’ll have undoubtedly seen SkinCeuticals pop up everywhere. In fact, I got so used to everyone raving about the C E Ferulic serum, I realised it was time I introduced myself to the range properly…
SkinCeuticals house an extensive range of professional products, from cleansers to toners, treatment serums and antioxidants, to eye creams and moisturisers. You’ll find them used by highly trained aestheticians and dermatologists, and on display at many skin surgeries. In the U.S, they are huge. But in the U.K, they are seen as more specialist and not as easily accessible.
In a nutshell, this brand knows its stuff. The products are made up of extremely effective, top quality formulas. So the question was: which ones do I use?
Luckily, with being a Beauty Editor for US retailers, I managed to get hold of a wide range collection of these products. But after using a few, it became clear very quickly which my favourites were: C E Ferulic, Triple Lipid Restore 2:4:2 and the LHA Cleansing Gel.
Firstly, the LHA Cleansing Gel is a deep-digging facial wash that works on your facial pores to de-congest and offer cell-by-cell exfoliation. With this, it keeps breakouts at bay, and reveals fresher, clearer skin. It uses a combination of LHA, glycolic and salicylic acid to encourage cell renewal resulting in a refined skin texture, a smooth clear skin tone and revived brightness. I used this after removing my make up as my facial wash, and have found it to be brilliant for my sensitive skin. The slightest thing makes my skin a little red, but absolutely no redness here! I haven’t had a spot since using it (3 weeks and counting), so lets see if this continues…
Secondly, all you have to do is put SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic into Google and see all the brilliant press features and review. But it truly is magnificent. So it smells a little like burning oat wood upon application, but it’s potent combination of 15% pure vitamin C (L-ascorbic acid), 1% vitamin E (alpha tocopherol), and 0.5% ferulic acid enhance protection against environmental damage that can contribute to atmospheric aging.
This vitamin C serum helps neutralize free radicals induced by UVA/UVB, infrared radiation, and ozone pollution, which may lead to visible signs of accelerated skin aging. I apply 4-5 drops to my face before the Triple Lipid Restore 2:4:2, as a treatment step to improve signs of aging and photo damage (I sadly have lots of sun damage present on my cheeks and nose), appearance of lines and wrinkles, loss of firmness, whilst brightening my skin’s complexion.
And finally, the number 1 product which literally has transformed the look and feel of my skin: SkinCeuticals Triple Lipid Restore 2:4:2. As I’m 30, I’ve started using this as my go-to anti aging cream. It’s formulated with a maximized concentration of lipids: 2% pure ceramides, 4% natural cholesterol, and 2% fatty acids, aiming to increase facial fullness and provide a plump, smooth finish to the skin.
I’ve actually never used a cream like it before. It feels like pure silk when I massage it in, leaving a subtle glow and radiance aftermath. Instantly, my whole complexion appears more plump and ‘filled in’, with the smoothest feel possible. Make up literally glides on top of my skin, and has a beam of brightness coming through from the cream.
They say this unique lipid correction cream works to do this by containing the first 2:4:2 cholesterol-dominant ratio, to help restore skin’s external barrier and support natural self-repair. Alongside this, it potently nourishes the skin for a visible improvement with the appearance of skin smoothness, laxity, pores, and overall radiance. I literally love this product, and can’t stress how quickly I saw a transformation!
SkinCeuticals products don’t come cheap, and you pay for the extensive research that goes into each product and the highly effective ingredients which really work. The Triple Lipid Restore 2:4:2 costs around £100 per jar, but I would honestly never use anything else now. And a tiny bit of product goes a long long way!
I’m so thankful I discovered this brand, and more importantly the Triple Lipid Restore cream. There’s a full article I shared over on SkinStore.com – the beauty site I write for – put together by the brand which tells you more about it if you wish to read a little more. You can take a read here.
