The other week I had the privilege of attending one of the nicest meetings to date – an introduction to Selfridges Exchange Square’s new beauty personal shopping service, with the lovely Charlotte Ingram. I’m an avid shopper at Selfridges, and have always been aware they run a personal shopping service, but this one in particular is dedicated to the beauty department on the lower ground floor. Exploring everything from cosmetics, fragrance, hair and body care, the service helps shoppers make careful decisions about which brands to buy and which products to invest in. As a self confessed beauty junkie and product obsessive, I enjoyed every moment of speaking to Charlotte about the service. It’s a fantastic service aiming to help women (and men!) discover products which are ideal for them and their needs, highlight new launches, and uncover promotions and offers. In general, the beauty personal shopper is an overall help and assistance to those who get stuck in a beauty rut and need to overhaul their regimes and products.
With the up-coming Christmas season, I can see this service being hugely popular for those who need to focus on make-up and beauty products for the party months, and also for those looking at gifting luxury products but don’t know where to start. Another reason that jumped out to me is the bridal season – how amazing would it be for a bride to book in with her bridesmaids and have a little bit of help in regards to essentials products to use on the big day?
Charlotte’s little beauty office is a lovely room filled with some of the hottest new beauty launches, where she will keep some of the best sellers or personal favourites to let clients have a little try. I was especially impressed with the gorgeous Diptique candle burning away in the background – I used to make an effort to purchase these but have totally let this habit slip lately! But anyway, that’s a different matter.
What I truly love about this service is that is completely unbiased and not sales led towards a specfic brand. I mentioned to Charlotte that if I visit a makeup counter to purchase a key product, I usually let myself get talked into buying add-on’s from the same brand, or if I ask for a recommendation, I know that the makeup artist will usually only recommend their own brand. The beauty of Charlotte’s service is to open up the offering across all brands that retail in Selfridges, without leaning towards one brand in particular. From my meeting with Charlotte, I was introduced to the amazing lipstick collection from Charlotte Tilbury, which I hadn’t yet explored before. I never try out nude shades for my lips as I tend to go for pink and reds, but the Nude Kate colour (which is a soft beige that glides on perfectly and melts into my natural lip colour!) created a rich creamy colour that actually really suits me. Oh and I have to add how amazing the rose gold packaging for the entire Charlotte Tilbury product range is…
The service is free to use, and will be a lovely addition to those stressful shopping days we have all experienced.
