Beauty: Lancer Skincare Launches At Harvey Nichols

As you all know by now, I’m a bit of a skincare fanatic. I take my skincare really seriously, and worked as a Beauty Editor for a range of international beauty retailers for a good few years. One of the main places I focused on was the USA, which was where I first discovered Lancer skincare.

If there is any skincare specialist and dermatologist that takes their skincare seriously, trust me it’s Lancer. Even Kim Kardashian swears by the dermatologist’s three step routine. Which, according to Dr. Lancer, is that skin needs to be ‘Polished, Cleansed and Nourished’ twice daily.

Lancer recently launched at Harvey Nichols stores and online, which has made it more accessible in the UK. The photos below are pictures of me wearing nothing but Lancer’s moisturiser called The Method: Nourish, after using the cleansing product.

I’ve been using a strict skincare regime from Lancer for the past couple of weeks, mainly consisting of 4 hero products. I have terrible congested, pigmented and dull skin in general, but as you can see from the photos above, my skin has been looking like a picture of health lately, with no makeup on.

Some of you might not agree – but for me, who is used to seeing angry red marks and pigmentation, along with a dry, dull complexion, I’m more than happy with the images above.

So before I go into the products one by one, and a bit of history on Lancer, the photos below show when I put CC cream and powder on, along with eye makeup and a touch of bronze, after following the Lancer skincare regime. As you can see, I look glowing and fresh, and remember there is absolutely no editing at all with any of these photos.

The man behind the legendary Lancer skincare products and my newly glowing skin is Dr. Harold Lancer, the son of Austrian immigrants. At the age of 7, he suffered severe burns over 10% of his body after falling into a vat of near boiling water. While the recovery process was painful and tedious, this experience greatly influenced his clear belief in restoration instead of alteration as the most effective way to obtain beautiful skin.

As he is a professional dermatologist, he also has a medical degree from the University of California, San Diego. He finished his dermatology residency at Harvard Medical School and completed a plastic surgery program in Tel Aviv, followed by clinics in London at St. John’s Institute of Dermatology. He holds board certification in dermatology and has been in private practice in Beverly Hills for more than 30 years

He believes that beautiful skin is a 2-way street. Illuminated, radiant skin is as contingent upon the patient’s dedication to a regimen as it is on in-office procedures.

I was lucky enough to give 4 of his products a go, hand-selected for my skin type. I’ve waited quite a while to review them, as I like to give a good length of time to do a proper case study, before reporting my findings.

So lets take a look at my thoughts on each…

Lancer Skincare The Method: Polish £60 120ml

The first step in ‘The Lancer Method’ is this daily exfoliator. It doesn’t feel too gritty, but rough enough to shed away the dead skin cells and really awaken your skin. It uses a powerful blend of key minerals and pumpkin and pomegranate extract to gently buff away. They say that for enhanced results, use in the shower so the steam and hot water can open the pores, allowing for a really deep cleanse.

It has a warming lavender scent to add a real luxury to your daily skincare routine too. It’s kind to my skin, leaves no redness, just a refreshed, exfoliated, smooth complexion. I put it down to this one one of the other products coming up as to why my pigmentation has faded…

Lancer Skincare The Method: Cleanse £48 120ml

This is a hydrating pH-balanced cleanser that gently removes makeup, dirt and oil for a fresh, healthy-looking complexion. It has a light, foaming texture aiming to cleanse without tripping of any moisture, so it doesn’t leave your skin feeling dry or tight.

I foam it into my skin with warm water twice a day, and for me, it just gently cleanses, lifting away surface dirt, pollutants and oils, although my skin feels nourished after using it.

It’s enriched with nourishing amino acids and soothing Aloe Vera, so it’s actually a real calming facial wash too. It’s packed with BHA’s to further improve the look of the skin, and the texture, giving a fresh glow.

Lancer Skincare The Method: Nourish £105 50ml

Lancer Skincare The Method: Nourish is an ultra-hydrating moisturiser that as well as moisturising and nourishing, reduces the look of fine lines and wrinkles too.

It’s a very nutrient-dense cream which I find creates a veil of plumping moisture to my complexion. My skin always looks that extra bit plumpy and fresh straight after using it.

It’s said to help to improve the signs of visible aging without a heavy or greasy finish, and whilst I can say it definitley doesn’t leave any greasiness on the skin, I like to report on the anti-aging after a couple of months of use.

It’s loaded with my favourite ingredient: Hyaluronic Acid. It’s possibly because it’s loaded with this that it delivers such intense hydration, along with Avocado and Olive Fruit Oils. It also contains Nasturtium Flower Extract, naturally rich in antioxidants, which help to brighten and enhance skin luminosity. It’s a pleasure to use and in my opinion, doubles up as a great primer too!

Lancer Skincare Advanced C Radiance Cream £70 50ml

Now I just use this once a day as it is fairly strong, but I put it down to fading my pigmentation and giving me an overall clearer, brighter look.

It’s a silky, water-free cream infused with 10% Vitamin C and Retinol to help brighten the skin while minimising the appearance of UV damage. The combination of Vitamin C with retinol works deep to banish the appearance of dullness and discolouration, and it’s quite good at getting rid of those small pesky under-the-skin spots too.

They say that because it is infused with 10% stabilised Vitamin C, it tackles uneven pigmentation and reduces the signs of UV-induced damage all at once, which I’ve definitley noticed. My sun damage was so extensive – I can’t tell you how pleased I am to notice a difference.

Any product loaded with retinol will help to exfoliate dull surface cells while improving the look of skin firmness and elasticity, but I think the fact this has Vit C in with it too, it’s super powerful!
