Beauty: Hair and Fragrance August Favourites

I can’t believe we are almost half way through August already – it seems like the Summer is whizzing by so quickly. Throughout the SS’15 season I’ve been lucky enough to get my hands on some amazing new hair and fragrance products, but sadly I haven’t had much chance to share them all with you due to moving house and struggling with no internet. So today’s post is dedicated to three brands I have been enjoying using so far in August that I’d recommend muchly – whether it’s new hair and fragrance products for yourself, or even for gifting if you have any friends birthdays coming up, as these are super girly!

The first one is the Natural World Argan Oil of Morrocco range, from Beauty and the Bunch. Before I get into the actual products, I wanted to mention how this website is fantastic for buying beauty products in ‘bunches’ – they put together some hero collections of key products that work well together for yourself, or again make perfect gifts if you are struggling which products to put together for someone. The beauty bunch I currently own is the Natural World Argan Oil of Morocco Hair and Body Survival Bunch, which is a dedicated collection of luxurious products for both the hair and body containing organic Argan Oil of Morocco. This set contains the 500ml Shampoo, 500ml Conditioner, 100ml Hair Oil and a 200ml Body & Face Oil. I can’t rave about Argan Oil enough – if you have colour treated, dry, damaged or frizz prone hair, I find this is a wonderful ingredient to have in your haircare. Both the shampoo and conditioner and nourishing and moisturising, with a lovely natural scent. I feel confident when using these that they are targeting my damaged areas from a build up of bleach last year.

ARGAN OIL HAIRCARE

However, the most amazing product in this bunch is the Natural World Miracle Oil for Body & Face – it is such a luxurious and non-greasy oil packed with hydrating Vitamin E. It is also blended with Peach Kernel, Sweet Almond and Evening Primrose oils, to help uneven skin tone, dehydrated, ageing and drying skin. I have been applying to my skin after cleansing before bed, and it is the most pleasant face oil to use. It doesn’t clog pores or cause greasiness, it just absorbs quickly and tones down any redness which I am prone to, and leaves my skin silky smooth.

The hair oil is a lovely finish to apply to damp hair before drying – I would try to resist using when hair is dry to smooth and tame, as Argan Oil hair products are quite intense and you want to avoid it sitting too heavy on the hair, which is why I always recommend applying to the hair ends when damp before blow-drying smooth.

This set costs £23.95 and is the perfect hair and beauty package if you are like myself and adore natural beauty and the power of Argan Oil.

In terms of fragrance, I am currently using a celebrity perfume, which is a first for me as I haven’t really experienced the celebrity fragrance trend first hand very often. Absolutely no reason why – I just have a number of personal favourite staple scents I repeatedly buy and have a lot of love for a number of key fragrance brands. Therefore I just don’t usually get chance to try out celebrity scents too often. However, I tried the Kelly Brook, Audition No.1 Eau de Parfum, and I have to say it is so lovely! It is just how you would expect the fragrance to be with the Kelly Brook name behind it – ultra feminine, sweet and girly. It’s a fresh yet fairly strong scent, reminiscent of powder rooms and sweet flowers. If you love uber-feminine fragrances, you’ll love this due to it’s strong element of Patchouli, Amber and Vanilla, with a slight spicy hint too. It’s such a pleasant fragrance – Kelly Brook has done well with this one!

Another reason for loving this fragrance is that I am a sucker for stylish parfum bottles, in terms of both design and appearance, which can sound a little fussy but as a dedicated beauty blogger, I like my dressing tables and cosmetic shelves to look as good as I feel about the products. With the art deco packaging and 1920s glamour themed bottle, I can confirm that Audition passes the test with this one! You can purchase at Fragrance Direct, RRP price is 100ml for £19.95 although it seems to be currently on offer.

And last but not least – an intensive hair conditioner that I find works fabulous at present is the new label.m Honey and Oat Hair Mask. Back in July I put together a dedicated post based on tips to grow your hair faster, and I discussed how label.m’s Rejuvenating Radiance Oil was helping to keep my hair in tip top condition. I find label.m launch some fantastic products that really do work – they are slightly pricier than those of the regular High Street prices, but you really pay for what you get. After using a number of their products this year, I can see why they are used regularly in salons and have such a strong following.

I have been applying the new Honey and Oat Hair Mask after shampooing and leaving on my damp hair for around 5 minutes. I would love to leave it longer, as I feel the results would be even more fantastic, but lets be real – us busy beauty bloggers rarely have time to kill! However, I find 5 minutes is more than enough for this mask to work it’s wonders. Firstly, the scent is divine – a sweet but not overpowering honey, and a typical ‘salon’ scent, you know the smell of professional products when you have a conditioning treatment carried our at your favourite salon? Secondly, when I wash it out my hair is completely de-tangled, and my tangle teazer glides straight through my hair and blow dries smooth and sleek. After a number of uses, I feel like my hair is becoming less prone to breakage, and I rarely have to the need to use straighteners as it’s becoming more nourished and replenished.

The photo above was taken straight after blow-drying and combing through my hair after using the Honey and Oat mask, so as you can, silky smooth hair. It may be worth noting that my hair is naturally straight, it’s just very dry, damaged and fine, so in other words in urgent need of repairing!

This super 150ml tub costs £15.75, and I can imagine it lasting quite a long time, due to using this every three to four washes. It is to be as an intensive mask so you really don’t need to use it more than once a week (depending on your own hair type).

So there we go, an August round up of some of my favourites. I can’t wait to see what new launched arrive in time for September!
