Beauty: The Face & Body Shop, Saddleworth

We all love to pamper ourselves every now and again, so I recently set out to review a popular beauty salon in the lovely area of Saddleworth last month, booking in at The Face and Body Shop for my birthday with my twin sister as a bit of a turning 29 treat! In attempt to become more of a ‘nail person’ ( it’s the one area I tend to not focus on too much), I booked in for Shellac Nails, and arranged for my sister to have a relaxing Clarins Aromatic Facial. My sister is currently pregnant, so it was a nice way to let her indulge in some pampering time and have a luxury treatment whilst she can…

For those not familiar with Saddleworth, it’s a lovely countryside area through Oldham, which to me is always a nice escape from the busy and bustling city of Manchester where I mostly spend a lot of time. Before I booked in, I wasn’t a complete stranger to The Face and Body Shop, as I have heard many impressive reviews about the place over my time of growing up in Oldham therefore I already had quite high expectations of the place. I guess the higher your expectations, the more you expect to salon to perform when you arrive! So was The Face and Body Salon exactly what I expected?

Indeed it was – I was overly happy with everything the place had to offer from the moment I arrived and was greeted by well presented, polite and friendly staff. I find that the first five minutes of arriving at a beauty salon are the most crucial; how the staff are presented speaks volume for the salon, as does the ambiance and the welcome that you receive. The lady at the reception desk talked me through all the treatments they offer at F&B, before showing me an array of colour and finish options for my Shellac appointment. I was a little spoilt for choice to say the least – the various shades of sugary pink, deep reds, glittering greys and summery pastels made me take the samples to the sofa for a couple of minutes whilst I debated what colour to chose for my talons!

IMG_8958In true Emma style, I stuck to my classic favourite of slate grey with a slight speckle of shimmer. I was wearing a white and grey snake print dress the following evening for my birthday night out, so it made sense to stick to an on-trend colour that was going to match. The therapist who carried out my session was brilliant, she went through the procedure thoroughly including advising me of the removal process, and was genuinely interested in talking to me throughout the treatment, and was just all in all a professional therapist.

It was great to see that was sister was happy with her Clarins Aromatic Facial too – she had a one hour relaxing aromatherapy facial, an individual facial treatment adapted to suit your skin’s requirements. This facial in particular used products and techniques to purify and balance oily congested skin, hydrating and nourishing dry skin, revitalising, soothing, and acting as an all round relief for dehydrated and sensitive skin. The facial begins with a cleanse and exfoliate, followed by an application of an uplifting serum before massaging the face with a blend of aromatherapy oils using the ‘clarins touch’ unique massage techniques, finished off with a hand and scalp massage. Sounds pretty dreamy…

As well as beautiful nail treatments and Clarins facials, The Face and Body Shop also carry out facial treatments with Guinot and c.a.c.i – very reputable and luxury product ranges. They also cater for all make-up, electrolysis, waxing, tinting, eyebrow and last treatments, reflexology and massages, making it all one stop salon destination. To extend their already fantastic treatment offerings, I found out on arrival that they have actually just launched a new Face and Body Clinic next door too!

The FAB Clinic caters for the more intensive treatments, think along the lines of Derma Roller treatments (read my reviews on how I find this helps with skin rejuvenation here) and other aesthetic procedures like Laser, Botox and Dermal Fillers. So if you are looking for an expert team of clinicians and aestheticians to treat and advise on the more specific areas of concern you may have, take a look at the website and see if they offer a consultation for the treatment plan you may be considering.

You can find The Face and Body Shop next to The FAB Clinic at 285 Oldham Road in Grotton. The team are super friendly and a fantastic, professional team of ladies. Thank you to all for my lovely visit!
