Beauty: Experimenting With Nail Art

As much as I love to discuss everything about beauty, cosmetics, hair and tanning, you’ll possibly notice I don’t touch on nails that much. No particular reason why; it just seems to be something I class as the least important. Maybe because I am lucky to naturally have strong and healthy looking nails, I don’t feel like my nails look too offensive without polish on a regular day, or have the need to cover them up.

However, this year I am starting to make a little bit more effort with polishing my nails as an attempt to ditch my a-little-bit-too-natural look I seem to be rocking these days. I’ve already stopped wearing eyeliner to work and switched from heavy foundation to CC cream – so I best make up for it with the hands! This week I’ve been putting my nail art skills and design head into use with this cute little Nail Art Set …

What a handy little nail set this is for me! It contains 10 stylish double-ended nail varnishes, each with a standard brush applicator and a special micro-tip pen for creating intricate designs and patterns. So for people like me who want to start decorating their talons creatively and arty, then this set makes it super easy to do so. The colour palette of nail polishes contain the main base colours that match any outfit, so you can basically plan and create any design in any colourways depending on mood, outfit choice or occasion.

The set of 10 micro-tip pens and nail varnishes come in both plain and glitter, but I chose the plain version as I thought these would be nicer for Summer. The colours have a pearlescent and creamy finish to them which I love, and apply fairly thick so you don’t need to keep building the colour up. I do love a good intense colour application! The glitter version would make a lovely gift coming up to the party season, and for designing those sparkly nails for all the evening parties around the autumn/winter season. The Nail Art Kit costs just £19.99 from Presents For Men, who provide unusual gifts for men and women. So don’t judge by the name- it’s a retailer with quirky gifts with all!

So as you can see, I’m not the most careful at applying nail polish and creating a pretty design. But I tired! These were my pink and silver love heart nails I designed with the Nail Art Kit last weekend for a friends wedding, to match my baby pink shift dress. Pretty cute nail colours aren’t they? The pen tips are so simple to use that you really don’t have to have the steadiest hand or the keenest eye for detail to create a sweet little design.

Next on the agenda will be dark red and cream I think!
