If you are a beauty and cosmetic obsessive like me, then receiving a monthly box of beauty products is one of the nicest treats you could wish to receive. When you don’t know exactly what the box contains, you get the added suspense factor too.
So maybe you can see why I feel like it’s a mix between my Birthday and Christmas Day when I receive a shiny new black box from Cohorted…
Cohorted select a handpicked secret selection of beauty and cosmetic products, which are then enclosed together in the elegant all black exterior beauty box, ready to be posted out to make someone’s day. In March, it was me who had my day made! I couldn’t contain my excitement when I received my box, pulling off the black lace ribbon to see what beauty favourites for March I was going to own.
When something is secret and unexpected, it always makes it so much more fun. What’s in the box… what’s in the box…
The March Cohorted Beauty Box costs £19.99, and contains 4 key products in fantastic sizes – so don’t be expecting tiny miniature samples. You do get the real deal with Cohorted!
I was overjoyed to receive the following: bareMinerals Pure Transformation Night Treatment 150 ml (worth £39.99), Urban Decay Perversion Mascara, 3ml (£12.99), Too Faced Exotic Colour Eyeshadow (£13.50) and Sleek Face and Body Precious Metals Highlighter Palette (£9.85). Here’s some little thoughts on each, plus I have reviewed the Sleek Palette in more detail as I know a lot of you are really interested in highlighting products at present.
bareMinerals Pure Transformation Night Treatment:
I am a big fan already of this brand, and I love using their concealers and touch-up veils as part of my everyday cosmetic routine. This product in particular promises to replenish your skin whilst you are asleep to give you radiant looking skin for when you wake in the morning. It’s actually a powder formula, which at first I found a little strange to use just before bedtime. I am usually a moisturiser and spot cream type girl! The product uses bareMinerals ActiveSoil Complex which provides the skin with renewing benefits overnight, increasing cell turnover and decreasing the size of pores. The best thing about this is you can go to bed looking slightly more made-up but not feel bad about it!
Urban Decay Perversion Mascara:
Again, I am already sold with this brand, as I religiously use the eye shadows from Urban Decay for both day and night. The mascara thankfully does not let me down either! This glides on clump-free in a jet black colour, effortlessly covering each lash from root to tip. An easy to apply, dramatic mascara that opens up eyes and can be layered up for a more intense look.
Too Faced Exotic Colour Eyeshadow:
This eyeshadow is gorgeous! And that isn’t usually a word I use to describe a powder based eyeshadow, but the shimmery, rich baked gold colour is just so intense and lovely. This is one I am going to be using in my make-up kit for my occasion make-up this Summer for brides, bridesmaids and prom girls etc. It creates a subtle base for adding smokey browns for an evening look, or it looks great worn alone with a slick of liquid eyeliner for casual looks.
My favourite product from the March box is the highlighter palette from Sleek. It may only be a little palette and at an exceptional price of £9.85, but it sure packs it’s punch!
Sleek Face and Body Precious Metals Highlighter Palette:
The Precious Metals Highlighter Palette from Sleek contains 4 shimmering, light reflecting colours which all contribute to highlighting and shadowing the face. The palette aims to promote shimmer, radiance and glowing skin, featuring three luxurious velvet cream formulas and a powder. All four shades are ideal for all skin tones and for both face and body. With these types of palettes, I love using them on my face to highlight, and also the collarbones if you haven’t tried that technique yet! Because everyone secretly wants killer collarbones, right?
In my photos below, I applied all my make up and then used the cream formulas before using setting powder. I used the lightest shade- Platinum- across the brow bone (slightly underneath) then used the Royal Gold shade down the bridge of my nose and on my cupids bow. The Renaissance Gold can also be added for a more dramatic evening look. I then applied my usual face powder, before sweeping my cheekbones with the Antique Bronze shade.
I first used this before getting ready for work, therefore I lightly applied the shades for a daytime highlighted look. If I was to use this for evening, I would layer up the shades more and add more shading with the antique bronze. I love how this really does bring my face ‘to life’!
You don’t have to sign up to Cohorted on a subscription basis, you just order as one off purchases, which makes it an amazing option for a gift for friends/family as well as a lovely treat for yourself. I love nothing more than the surprise factor, and if the other months of Cohorted Beauty Boxes are as good as the March version, then I can see myself being a regular customer!
