Beauty: Christmas Day Brushes and Blushers

Firstly, for all those reading this post today – Merry Christmas Eve! And for all those subscribers reading this tomorrow; Merry Christmas and have a lovely day eating your Christmas Dinner and opening presents…

Today’s post is a little quick one for you so I don’t interrupt your Christmas celebrations, where I am exploring my new make-up loves and how to create a Christmas Day ‘pretty-but-basic make-up-look’. The look is created by using brushes from UBU, available at Asda and Tesco, and make-up from MakeUp Revolution, available at Superdrug.

I chose to brighten up my festive face with a selection from UBU’s line of stocking fillers. I have been needing some new, affordable make-up brushes for a while now, therefore when I was introduced to this brand I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the range for the inexpensive price tag. UBU offer a range of high quality beauty tools, which make fantastic gifts for the girls in your lives, and also for yourself if you need a couple of extra brushes to add to your ever-growing make-up kit (if your anything like me…)

UBU offer a variety of colour-coded brushes that cater to your every beauty need. My favourites, and the one’s I’m using to create my Christmas Day face, are the Screen Preen Powder Brush which gives my skin that extra bit of radiance, and the Glow Stick Foundation Brush to help my skin appear effortlessly smooth.

As I have blue eyes, I love grey and brown smokey eyeshadow looks, but for Christmas Day with the family I prefer to keep it fairly subtle. I created my natural look using UBU’s Smoke Screens Smokey Eye Brush Kit. Each brush is designed with a specialist function to style beautifully defined eyes from lash line to crease. To complete the wide-eyed look, I have been using the UBU Wicked Winks to curl lashes without crimping or breaking. These eyelash curlers use specially rounded non-slip silicon pads for gentle control, and rubber grip handles engineered to evenly distribute pressure in order to produce gorgeous looking lashes.

Whether it’s a little something for yourself, friend or family member, UBU’s stocking fillers are a great way to say Merry Christmas! But if you have bought all your gifts (and by Christmas Eve, I should hope so…) just remember that all UBU products RRP from £2-12 in Asda and Tesco so they are great little additions for yourself if you need that extra brush replacing or just need a new one in general. So affordable!

In terms of ‘colour scheming’ my face for Christmas Day, I purchased my first make-up product from Makeup Revolution the other day – the Makeup Revolution Ultra Blush Palette in Sugar and Spice, £6.  Available from Superdrug, it contains 8 different blusher shades for creating a range of different looks. The shades are all highly pigmented, yet easy to blend and consist of both shimmer and matte blushers, merged baked blusher, and merged baked highlighter powder. I have been using the one to the top left to contour, then the one of the top right to highlight, and I am loving them! I have just hidden away my trusty MAC Gingerly Blusher as I’m going to be using this palette for a while now.

The cute palette comes with a mirror and is great to carry around with you. I have only used those two shades as yet, but I’m excited to try the softer pinks for a more daytime look when I am less bothered about contouring.

Very simple yet effective make-up for Christmas Day with thanks to my new UBU and Makeup Revolution products, all from high street supermarkets or beauty retailers, at ridiculously cheap prices.

Merry Christmas to you all!
