A few weeks ago I had one of the loveliest meetings with my favourite cosmetic brand – Bobbi Brown. There is just something about Bobbi Brown that makes it an all round favourite beauty brand of mine. I think my love affair started a long while ago, when I was hunting for a foundation that had absolutely no pink tones, after realising that most brands foundations do tend to have that tiny bit of the shade added. I had a mini consultation with a make-up artist, who introduced me to the Long Wear Foundation, and mentioned how the range contains absolutley no pink tones, and is much more yellow based to cancel out any pinky-warm tones my skin was starting to show.
As a make-up artist myself, when ever anyone asks for make-up recommendations, I tend to mention Bobbi Brown first. To me, it’s a fail-safe brand, delivering quality products in gorgeous shades, worth every penny, so I was rather excited to meet with the brand at their Selfridges Exchange Square concession in Manchester. With the Autumn/Winter season being in full swing, it was nice to learn a little about the inspirations behind the new collection…
The brand have pulled inspiration for this season from travelling – combining South African vibes with safari themes. This means lots of warm tones and influences from sunsets, hot evenings, animal prints and wanderlust. Even though the month’s are getting colder, the Bobbi Brown collections are giving us that touch of warmth and sparkle we need in our Winter makeup kit. Brought to us from Bobbi’s latest trip to South Africa, I learnt about a stunning collection called Sterling Night, which delivers a series of sequin eye shadows inspired by the bright, starry South African night sky. How lovely! The eye shadows are speckled with shimmer and multi-tones, creating deep colours with that flicker of subtle warmth.
I also fell in love with a collection that is definitely designed for me (in other words, if Bobbi ever met me, she would sculpt up this range based on my colour and tonal loves!). Introducing the Greige Collection – a combination of two of this seasons hottest colours, beige and grey. I know to some of you that may sound a little dull, but in terms of makeup and the colours you put on your face to enhance features, grey and beige are serious winners. I have blue eyes, in which which soft smouldering greys bring about the brightness, and beige is the loveliest shade to blend darker colours. I am actually the proud owner of the Greystone palette as shown below, which contains 5 hero shades perfect for both day and night, in a range of warming greys; some with bronze tones and others more creamy-beige.
The above photos are some shots I tried to take in a poorly lit room before dashing to work, but hopefully show you how much I loving wearing the greige collection, and adding creating a look suitable for both day and night.
You’ll also notice the pop of pink on my cheeks, courtesy of the limited edition Pink Shimmer Brick from Bobbi Brown too. I have actually never used a pink shade of Shimmer Brick before – I’m usually a bronze girl every time – but when I was shown this gorgeous shimmering collection of tonal pinks, from subtle peach shades to golden rose tones, I really wanted to try something different. I feel like the warming pinks add that youthfulness look to my face, and give that real girly, playful look.
So there you go, a roundup of my new favourite Bobbi Brown products and a little look at some of the new collections and inspirations. Are you a Bobbi Brown fan? Do share your thoughts below if you wish!
